Although kns2 seems to be struggling, it appears Euphoria is charting fairly well. Can't say I'd have predicted that.

Also something of note. Despite the fact that every other mangagamer hardcopy has shown up on jlist for preorder about the same time as on mangagamer(or before even), princess evangile has not. Given that it's been some time since mangagamer last even announced a hardcopy, I wonder it they might not be using pcr/jlist to print evangile?

However, if the titles a particular translator wants to work on continually sell like shit, then they'll likely have less chance to work on such games in the future. As such, I think that Gahkthun's best chance is to get on Steam and appeal to the anime crowd. The way "the singer" and "the girl" are introduced make it almost sound like they're supposed to be different people.

According to Wikipedia, Sumire chapter is a collab between Nekoneko Soft and Stage Nana, and has been in development for a while. Given Agi's massive hardon for both, it's actually possible that Sekai has been funding one or both directly. Sekai is definitely trying to sell it as if they're funding the whole thing themselves, with Nekoneko not mentioned at all in the KS. That comes off a bit disingenuous.

Further, there's a lot of other glaring inconsistencies, or at least confusing matters. Sumire is the only chapter that isn't currently released in Japan, everything else has been released in some format. Most of the new content is from the PSP version of the game.

The funding breakdown raises more questions than answers. If Sumire chapter is the only 'new' content, why are costs for 'art' and such listed for games that aren't seeing any development? If there is new development on those games, exactly what is it that they plan to do? The games are short, maybe ~100k characters in length. Will it really cost... $10k ~ $20k per game for each of the four games for things like 'programming? Grisaia only asked for ~$60k for ALL localization for all three games, including programming, and that series totals to over 2m-3m characters in length. For that matter, why is localization cost itself not cited? Isn't that the main thing we're funding? And where did the $60k go that was already spent?

They're asking us to give them $75000. We really should have some answers.

Kickstarters tend to slow down considerably after the first day or 2, then have a massive rush at the end. The average amount per backer at the moment is ~$69, which means they'd need over 1,000 backers to reach their goal, when they currently only have 400. They still have a long way to go, but it's still possible they can make it.

Looks like mikandi changed their kickstarter plans.

https://mikandi.jp/libra-of-the-vampire-princess/
>Q: When will the campaign launch on Kickstarter?
>A: Originally we planned to launch on Kickstarter before the Oct. 30th release of the game in Japan. However, after listening to the visual novel community we have decided to start with a pre-launch on Prefundia (LINK COMING SOON). We are looking for feedback on rewards and stretch goals. This move also gives us more time to grow the “Vampire Princess Army” so that when we do launch on Kickstarter, we have the best chance for success!
>We need around 1800 backers to reach our Kickstarter goal. We will launch the campaign once the “Vampire Princess Army” has grown large enough to fight! Sign up here and ask your friends to join us!…
>Sign up for the launch announcement and chance to win a prize!

Probably a smart move to not be caught up against the muv luv kickstarter's end.

>Q: Once funded on Kickstarter, how long will it take to translate the game?
>A: We estimate 8 months for translation plus 2 additional months of building and testing. The game is over 2.5 million characters and 60 hours of game play. Libra should release in the fall of 2016.

That's somewhat worrying. While theoretically feasible, a translation of that magnitude should take double that timeframe. Multiple translators? You'd think they'd include some editing time to clean it up.

>> No.14278589

It would be still a fair bit off from the longest, but yeah, it would be well up there. I'd guess they're mistaking script size in mb vs character count, since the former seems most common, even if it's not a consistent measure, since people screw up all kinds of file encoding.

The answer lies in the fact that some /jp/ posters have been following the scene for multiple years and know the history behind MG along with their attitude. Also, MG staff posts in these threads and helps to chill for them.
I don't have the time right now to write in length about this and the thread is about to feel off the board but this is pretty much it.
