they're like skill levels
basically they throw a set of 4 songs of a certain difficulty at you and if you pass the shit well then you get that skill level

so instead of saying "oh I can pass X song" there's like a standard "set" of songs that you can pass which basically proves your skill level

>> No.14243213

>>14243016
they are courses with preset (4 for single, 3 for double) songs that you must play in one sitting, survival style, with the gauge and combo carrying over from the previous song

it will determine your relative skill level based on the highest course (dan) that you can clear

it's class mode in spada, try it out

Holy fuck, random really is cheating. Why didn't I believe it before. I actually never really used random before I sucked with it, but now I've played a few hours of 8s and 9s and am learning the patterns. I played Holy Snow (H8) and just got a AA with random on, while my best score was barely A and I had played it 20+ times in the past.

I'm a fucking cheater now, how do I erase this score? I don't want to be a cheater.

Most of the better players play on random, I believe. So it's no big deal, unless it really means a lot to you.

>> No.14244118

>>14244083
Just don't use it anymore. Random is pretty good for learning new bullshit patterns, if you use it for that purpose you will benefit. The downside is that you'll have "unfair" high-scores like the one you got on Holy Snow. So what I do is practice with random on LR2.

Can someone explain to me what sound voltex appeal cards are and what the generator does?

>> No.14246264

>>14246232
Appeal cards are like little "profile pics" for yourself. When you match up with people online, you can send different messages to people and each character has its own set of messages.

The physical generator is available through Generator Start (currently it's only in Japan IIRC) and costs 200 yen, or twice a regular credit. Halfway through your first song it shits out a random physical appeal card. There's a small chance of getting a PUR (Perfect Ultimate Rare IIRC) card, which allows you to change your navigator character to whatever you unlocked. Options include that schoolgirl chick, the muscular guy in Bangin Burst's jacket, Rasis in a bikini, Rasis in a yukata, Rasis in some other outfit, etc.

If you unlock one in Japan and end up playing in Round1 I guess you might get people going "Holy hell how did you change that"

>> No.14246297

>>14246264
So how do you use the card to set the character? Or does it just add it to your eamuse account and then you also get the card as a physical collectible?

And R1 actually just got them, which is why I'm wondering what they are

>> No.14246360

>>14246297
When you start the game and put in a credit you get to choose which appeal card you use. I don't own any PUR cards, but I believe after this is navigator selection.

You see the 'Nemesis Crew' screen, right? If you draw a PUR card, that character will be selectable there. You do have to get quite lucky to draw one though. I read on a Japanese site that some people have had to generate dozens of times before getting a PUR (so $$ just on cards).

As far as I know, the only benefit is in the 'battle sequence system' parts of the mission mode. The PUR-obtained characters are stronger than base-RASIS so you should be able to defeat the enemies more quickly.

I don't actually have a PUR card yet (tried like 3 times and then gave up on it, Konami gets enough of my money as it is) but the above is my understanding of the system.

Crimp connectors should probably be purchased in real life. Go check out a home depot or some other hardware/electronics store, they should have plenty. Alternatively if you're in college and your school has an electrical/computer department they often sell stuff to students like that.

>> No.14248043

>>14247945
Yep.

Other end goes into the arduino.

Front of the spade slides on the microswitch terminals, or the LED terminals.

Oh, by the way, the microswitches and springs that come with the buttons you ordered are like 200g.

Remove the spring (pinch the two white blocks on the bottom of the button inwards and push out the button, then reassemble after you've gotten it out) and lighten the microswitches by cracking them apart with a screwdriver and stretching the springs out to about 20mm.

Careful with that step, if you stretch them too far you'll end up with like a 25g switch and no way to go back.

Alternatively just buy 50g microswitches.

I'm not much of a IIDX player but unless you have like parkinson's or something there's no way you're hitting a true wall at that level. Just keep working at it. It helps if you can find a song that you're on the cusp of doing, but still really enjoy playing.

>> No.14254627

I have the same feeling when I hit that kind of wall. What works for me is going back 2 levels (in your case, 7's and 8's I guess?) and HARD CLEAR EVERYTHING.
You'll find that you will fail some "easy" songs and that's when you'll know exactly where you're having trouble. If you can't hard-clear a certain song, move forward to the other ones, go back to that specific one a few days later.
It is a long road, I know, and it takes time... But once you're done doing this you'll find yourself clearing those fucking 9's.
Also, try lowering your green number about 5. Get comfortable with it for a few days and then lower another 5. Repeat until you can't lower anymore.
I hope this helps
Good luck :)

I think the perfect pass/fail system would be a groove gauge and then a separate meter you need to fill up in order to pass the song. When your groove is in the top 20% the second meter gradually fills and it stops when you're below 80% and maybe drains if the groove gauge gets really low. That way you can't easily pass a song anyways if there's a super hard part at the beginning, and you won't be totally fucked when it gets super dense in the last two measures.

It'd be more of a measure of your playing ability across the entire song

I think just having a score target would be fine for most of the 'Maximum Score is XXXXXX' games. Just get over x% of the maximum to pass.

The Excessive Rate system in SDVX is also probably a little fairer in principle. Your life bar starts full and depletes with every error (but can be replenished). You only fail when you hit 0.
