If you ever feel like a fucking baka, just know that it took me 2 years to realize Alice's last name was ``Margatroid'', not ``Marigold''.

I am such a baka that I pronounce Cirno as "sir no". Back in 2006 when the western Touch fandom was growing there were no videos of how her name was pronounced so that's what I called her. Now that I know her name is pronounced "Cheer ru no" I feel like a baka.

In a uni class, I was talking to a few 2hufags and I slipped up and pronounced her name as "Sirno" out of bad habit. Needless to say, they looked at me weird.

>baka
Me and the OP deserve to be banned from /jp/.

Christ, how excruciating. I don't even talk about anime with people.

I'm glad I'm not an English speaker, all that crap you have to go through because your phonetic alphabet is bananas must be though.

wow that's news to me too

I saw people call her chillno before but I thought that was just a joke but really it seems like that's closer to the real spelling then

Cirno is not an English or Japanese name. It really should be spelled "Chiruno" in my opinion. Tewi's name is even more annoying than Cirno's. Tewi's name is pronounced "Tei".

How do you spot them?
I've put an ohayou! on my laptop as an incentive, but nobody has ever shown any (for me) discernible signs of recognition.

you're just joshing me now, right?
I mean Tewi really being Tei? that doesn't even make sense

"ゐ" is ancient shit, used to emphasize her age.
Even my IME first thought I wanted to write "うぃ".
Same with Tenko's "family" name.

Man, there's this one guy in my class that has multiple cirno T shirts, but when I bring up the topic he's always disinterested even when I tell him I like touhou

so they just insert random characters into the middle of words that say things you're not supposed to say out loud?
sorry but I'm having trouble with that concept

would it be like writing winColdter but actually saying winter?

Try selling your soul and wearing a 2hu shirt. Surprisingly enough, the few 2hu fags that I have met were actually pretty cool guys. They were nerdy looking but they knew how to suppress their nerdlevels in public. A lot of nerds are social rejects who don't know how to act in public. What was strange to me is that most of them say they only browse /a/ and /v/. My brain doesn't comprehend that. They are hardcode 2hu fans yet they don't frequent /jp/. I asked one of them why and they said it's because /jp/ers are weird and we only do imagedumps of the characters.

So? Maybe Cirno is not a jap then? If she's called Cirno and pronounced Chirno is her right to be called like that.

>>14235159
>>14235167
That's because Tewi IS ancient shit, she was probably being called with the "w" back then. Reminder she's 1300, back then that ゐ had a meaning. Her name is Tewi.

Do you modify your name every time you travel to accodomate the uses of the country your visiting?

Tewi has been trolling people with her name for so many years now.

It's most of what we do.

There's nothing in /jp/ you can get that you can't get elsewhere.

It's Tewi. The "Tei" thing is a meme because Japanese text-to-speech programs don't support ゐ.

Because some people are starved of social interaction and want someone with the same interests as them.
The most i do is playing the games in my boring uni classes.

Languages change.
ゐ (wi) and い (i) used to be pronounced differently, as their pronunciation became closer い was used instead of ゐ.
>would it be like writing winColdter but actually saying winter?
I think a better example would be spelling something with an Æ.
