Why the fuck are you using one of those cheap bic pens that come in boxes of a hundred to write your notes? For the price of that box you could have bought three or four decent pens that would last you in total longer than the entire box you bought. Fucking stupid school girl.

It wasn't that uncommon for a girl like her to stay behind in class, but I still got surprised. The way she was trying to hide such a huge notebook behind her tiny hands amused me.
Looking at the cute strap hanging on her cellphone, it wasn't hard to take a guess at her personality. At this time, I decided to tease her for the fun of it.

Right as I was getting closer to her desk, I could clearly hear her breathing getting heavier. It probably took her a good amount of courage to talk in the first place but it got all washed away the moment I took my first step towards her. This notebook, I wonder what kind of embarrassing thing she was writing in it?

"What am I looking at? I wonder, what do you think?"

But that's not VN-like writing at all.

>It wasn't that uncommon for a girl like her to stay behind in class, but I still got surprised.

VN narration is almost always in present tense (for immersion purposes; you are the protagonist, experiencing that scene right then and there), while this writing is in past tense. With the more direct writing style of VNs, remarks on how things usually are ('it wasn't that uncommon...etc') are relatively rare compared to other written media. If such a remark is present, it's in present tense and either the protagonist's direct thoughts or something important enough to explicitly mention it.

Also, VN narration tends to follow the protagonist's situation and thoughts more directly. For example, if written as a VN, that scene would be more like this:

(Hm...? What's this?)
I thought everybody had gone home already, but there's still a girl in the classroom.
...Staring at me.
(Well, this is awkward.)
She seems to be trying to hide a huge notebook with her tiny hands, but of course I can clearly see what she's holding.
Her clumsy attempt at hiding it brings a smile to my face.
"Umm..."
The girl tries to stammer something, but she can't manage to get any words out.
etc
