TD was not bad thought, the only bad part was that the "trance" mechanic always activated automatically after diying ruining your pace and your chaances of capturing spellcards if you diesd in a nonspell.

The Trance Mode itself would be one thing, but to use it effectively, you have to kill the enemies as soon as they appear on the screen for maximum divine spirits. Building the game around that made for a very boring experience (just see how fucking empty stage 5 is once you memorize the enemy spawn points: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5gZrrGBBHg).). Extra Stage was the exception, being actually pretty tough as far as Touhou Extra Stages go.

UFO was really good everything-wise
TD is very easy indeed but it's what pushed me to try lunatic and has a nice story, nice characters and it's the game in which ZUN started innovating in terms of music, so you should stop hating on it.
DDC feels like it's missing something, like the final boss isn't really the final boss and it's missing one. Extra is more of the same but overall is a very fun game to play because of its gimmicks and whatnot.
I hated LoLK the first week but I can't believe how much it grew on me. It's a great game

When are people gonna learn to love every touhou game in a different way?

DDC was anything but mediocre, it had really good mechanics overal.
Plus the extra was great, the whole taiko/drum theme was really something.
The only weak part of DDC was stage 4.
I don't know how you can call other people secondaries while defending LoLK, sure, is a good game but the trial and error gameplay is not a good mechanic never.

Why do people say IM is the easiest Touhou to 1CC? I'm trying to 1CC all the modern 2hus on normal, I've done 10, 6 and 7. I just tried 8 and some boss patterns on stage 4 and 5 were pretty hard, comparable to TH7. Is there some mechanic I don't get that makes the game easy? I was playing with the Reimu& Yukari combo, sure the timing window for bombs makes it easy but it uses 2 bombs if you get hit, if I understood correctly. It balances itself, because I got used to Reimu's window in 7 and manage to save my ass with bombs often

Easy patterns, stages are very manageable, plenty of resources, best practice modes.
Compare Stage 5 on lunatic to pretty much any other Stage 5 lunatic in the series, its way easier especially if you play as Border Team.

To be honest, I suck so bad that every Touhou is a trial and error, so I welcome the infinite-lives concept of LOLK.

Its the first game I beat on normal, and it only took me two months on a single game session.

On my first almost-1CC of a Touhou game, I was at Yuyuko's final spellcard, shaking and sweating like never felt before with only one life left and no bombs, and I died on when everything slowed down at the last fucking second. Despite showing 100% completion I got no ending or anything. Thankfully I had a hammer next to me to pass my rage on the wall and cartons instead of smashing my keyboard with bare hands.

I think that Clownpeice is a really fun fight, but I think that Sagume is a really boring fight. Junko as well is a cool fight when you read about it and see how it reflects Junko's personality, but its just not that much fun to play.

Stage 1-3 is some of the best 2hu ever though.

Ok wait, I'm trying to 1CC Imperishable Night I don't undestand how the final stage works. I always ended up in 6A, but now I just surprisingly ended up in 6B even though I never 1CCd it. I had a potential 1CC but I fucked up because I didn't know this boss and it is harder. I just want to clear 6A for my 1CC, how did this happen?

First time you always get 6A stage. After first 1CC you always get 6B with that team. After you clear 6B you can choose your final stage.

Probably you downloaded game which had unlocked 6B for one of the teams. Delete score.dat and you'll get a clear and fresh game with everything locked.

I did finish the game once, using a continue, but never 1CCd it. My downloaded game had a clean save file (I even unlocked the spell practice mode when I finished the game continuing) and I reached 6A multiple times, but I suddenly got in 6B. I guess it counts, the wiki isn't too clear as it says it unlocks when you "complete the game with a character duo". It's kind of fucked, I got there for a second time and game overed, and both times I couldn't continue. I guess it has to do with this time gimmick I don't totally get and give no fuck about, but I just wanted to clear 6B with a continue and be able to get back on 1CCing the game with 6A...

You get a Bad ending if you hit 5AM or if you game over on 6B.

You get the Normal ending if you clear 6A before 5AM; continues are fine. Getting a Normal ending unlocks 6B for that team/character.

If you continue before stage 6 you can only enter 6A (and potentially get the Normal ending), and if you haven't cleared 6B yet you're always sent to 6B until you clear it. You can't continue once you enter 6B, so getting a Good ending requires you to 1cc.
