For me it varies from title to title. Generally any localization is good news for me. But if it's localized with godforsaken English Dub-only, censorship and 'rub-a dub-dub mister Skeleton-person' I'd at least look for a way to replace the voices. Other than that - if a title is OP-image difficult in terms of moon - I'd stick with the original.

I was going to say that I'm rather tolerant to many kinds of localization fuckups and that there isn't any single localization I'd call horrible and unplayable, but then Osawari happened.

If the content is not localized, I'll pirate it and I'll buy it if I like it.
If it's poorly localized (as in, missing content), I'll pirate it and encourage others to do the same, no exceptions. It doesn't matter if there's a restoration patch or an undub, localizer won't get a penny from me. If it's something I care about, I'll bitch at their forums in addition to that.
For example, I will never buy localized Kiseki series (no Japanese voices), but I will keep seeding the torrents.
Actually, for me censorship is what matters the most. I can deal with bad translation more or less (if there are Japanese voices or undubs), but censorship I consider as a personal insult. I have enough of that stupid shit in original Japanese content already to bother dealing with over the top censorship which isn't even required by US laws (fuck them by the way. Sincerely, Europe.)

I like translations, even liberal ones, as long as they aren't grossly distorting anything; it increases the available fanbase that you can talk about something with.

I also don't see anything wrong with the translation in the OP in terms of being appropriate game dialogue and accurately reflecting the atmosphere.

Seeing something localized is better than not seeing it localized, if just for the point that it builds awareness of the product, in turn making people become more interested in it and other stuff like it, which leads to wanting for the best possible versions of those products so you get stuff like fan translation groups spawned and companies that need to improve the quality on their products.

Honestly, what is there to actually be gained from NOT localizing something other than some people getting a smug sense of self satisfaction that they are partaking in something others cannot.

Imagine if you were a Japanese animator. It is your dream. You get paid shit. Instant ramen all day. You can't in call in sick because that would mess up everybody's schedule. You still continue the backbreaking work. Anime is part of your culture. It is your dream.

And then Funimation happened. Mistranslations or worse, deliberate rewriting of the material that has nothing to do with the original. They don't respect the work. Workers responsible for the subpar translations laugh at people for being angry. Some are even proud of purposely ruining something that you were a part of.

So now you hate gaijins and your instant ramen tastes bitter. You still go to work the next day. It is your dream.
