Also, How would you WANT it to work?

I think it'd be neat if each episode had a different art style and tone, sorta like Samurai Jack. Each episode would be one person's vision, reflecting how differently doujin artists interpret the characters.

Something like gdgd Fairies and Tesagure where you'd have segments with the three fairies talking about shit and doing weird stuff with models of the other characters and props from the games, and other segments with the heroines(Reimu, Marisa, Sanae mostly, occasionally Youmu and Sakuya, sometimes Yukari, Yuuka, or Mima appear alongside them) making fun of stuff in the games and manga at Reimu's shrine.

For ad lib segments, The fairies would do stuff like have the actresses, who didn't know a thing about Touhou comment, on what they thought the characters were like based on their images, and voice over silly MMD segments of battles and stuff. The heroines would do stuff like re-enact things for Aya/Hatate's reports.

I don't think an anime would work. Maybe short 5-10 minutes clips focusing on character interaction and everyday life in Gensokyo. It should definitely have a laid back, calm atmosphere. No fighting. That should be exclusively to the games. I'm not sure about the art. Don't think that ZUN's would work in an anime. It definitely shouldn't be too moe. Pic related looks nice but I don't know if it would work in anime.

Maybe have a Kourindou anime like >>14112007 said. I really don't like having the focus on Rinnosuke though. His endless monologues probably also wouldn't work in anime.
