It's looking really good, all of his best newer songs are on there. Idola no Circus, Terminating the World, FPS, Bye Bye, Nostalgica... The bonus disc on the limited edition looks nice too, I might even consider spending the extra cash for it.

The newer stuff is definitely less dark and less angsty, but his compositions are still great as always and he's got a lot better at tuning. Most of the tracks are already out though, so if you're feeling unsure you can listen to them a few times and decide.

I love the blend of jazz and rock, it is a very orchastrated track.

There is a little bit of other stuff but none of it really motivated me to play it as the core of the game was the rhythm game. Things like the PV maker were kind of moot to me as I was trying to get into MMD at the time and the gifting part never particularly drove me as I'm not a waifu fag. Each to their own though.

Found the Synergy-Style albums (Sakura Recordz) the other day while killing time on Nicovideo and I almost want to order the whole set. It's nothing really special musically speaking (and it's certainly not new so there's not much point in sharing it), but I guess in the end all Vocaloid I like ends up being EDM.

Is it just me or is Project Mirai DX just nowhere as good as the Project Diva games? I just bought it yesterday and I can't really say I'm having a ton of fun with it. I guess I'm also upset there are no subtitles.

It was hard to get used to it at first, but the controls work really well on the 3DS and the nendoroid style grows on you after a while. I also like the song list, even though two of my favorites (Luka and Len) kinda got the shaft.

I'll have to play a bit more before deciding how it compares to Project Diva, but I'm liking it so far.

This is discussed a lot on here. The numbers generally suggest that anything that isn't Miku is tanking. I still love Vocaloid, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't happy about this. I prefered the music made in the developing niche era rather than the boom era.

That's definitely part of the problem. That's why I'm actually glad Crypton is focusing on updating the existing vocaloids instead of just developing CV04 for the sake of it.

And as long as Miku survives, there will be a place for the other vocaloids too, so I'm not too worried about it (and let's be honest, Miku is great as well).

I'd have to agree with >>14083593, even though less hype means less weebs and autists in general polluting the fanbase, it also means more people, more views for producers big and small, and more songs made, more selection, more business. It's easy enough to ignore autists anyway.
I hope Vocaloid stabilizes somewhere between 'too much hype that it's completely flooded with shits' and 'too little hype that there's barely anything new'.

In a hypotheretical situation Kanye West decided to team up with a Vocaloid producer and made the next best album since Dark Fantasy and everybody who wouldn't have liked Vocaloid began to like it because Kanye said he like it, how would you feel? Knowing that there are some out there who solely like something because of a celebrity whereas you genuinely like it?

Hell, Lady Gaga admitted she like Hatsune Miku and have used Miku in her concerts for openings, what if you meet someone you thought like Miku and they only gave the reply "I don't know about Miku but Lady Gaga have her perform at her concerts and I like it"

You know some jump on the bandwagon because of its popularity, right? There are fans and "fans"

As someone who had never heard of Miku before Lady Gaga had her open her shows (and I don't even like Lady Gaga), I say it's never a bad thing if it gets more popularity. Vocaloid fans aren't just born loving Miku, everyone has to start somewhere, and you HAVE to be a casual fan (or "fan") before you become a hardcore fan, by definition.

And what's wrong with being a casual fan anyway? They help spread popularity and ensure the production of more songs, concerts, games, etc.

I personally don't give a shit about casual fans, until they start wrecking shit, which they have now to an extent for me. I got into this for the weird synthpop and more niche aspects of music, now it's been replaced with really bad Jin immitators and lazy EDM producers.

Also, I commend Crypton for trying to grow their business but in appealing to the more casual fan they have forgotten about the lonely neckbeard with a DX-7 at home that made them. You can only sustain yourself on whimsical kids for so long.

Top five:

1) Suzumu - On the Eighth Day, Before the Rain Stops. I absolutely love anything Suzumu has ever been involved with, including most songs by kemu, a few Giga-P songs, etc. His solo work is just as great.

2) Hachiouji-P - Desktop Cinderella. Might be my favorite Hachiouji-P album to date. Some great songs in there.

3) Clean Tears - Reverberations 2. Clean Tears is always great, and while this wasn't as good as the first Reverberations for me, I still liked it.

4) Orangestar - Mikansei Eight Beats. I was instantly interested in this album as soon as I heard Night Sky Patrol of Tomorrow. Pretty great overall.

5) Nem - Time Travel with You and Me. Jazzy sound and some great tuning, Nem never disappoints.

I'm a big fan of Neru's though, and if the already released songs of the new album are anything to go by it's definitely gonna deserve a spot on my list.

There are even more games coming out now, Project Diva X and Arcade, recent localizations like Project Mirai DX, etc. There were big concerts in the US just last year like never before. There are still a lot of producers making music, and new voicebanks coming out for some of the most popular vocaloids (including Miku and the Kagamines).

From having friends who work with her v4x, if you blend her notes using evec and work really hard to get them to sound good, it could be decent. But the main problem is that some of her consonants are sort of muffled/not enunciated clearly you need to try fix it with eq or swap with straight.

From what I know, none of the voicebanks in the new luka sticks out. She has lost a lot of her emotion and tone since v2. As for why people say it's bad I think the thought process is = work twice as hard to get luka v4x to sound nice when you can just run something like vy1v4 or iroha v4 and be done

Sometimes producers have one or two huge hits and the fandom keeps pressuring them to do more and more, but if we remember who these producers are-they're just like you and me, its not their job, (or it rarely is unless you are already signed onto record labels. ) producers who do this as hobbies may get bored 4 or 5 years down the line. If we are strictly looking at old producers and why theyre not as active anymore, I guess you can say the original songs fandom is in decline. So we have 2 deaths and 1 announcement of retiring by suzumu. But you're missing out on the newer producers, anyone notice giga, yairi, koyori, patirchev? They're very new compared to the likes of wowaka and samfree. I think the fandom has stabilized. It's not that initial burst of popularity like the old days but we still get amazing and better songs.

Just accept that some producers have lives and move on. Also stop pressuring them to make better and better songs although, I often feel that way with dixie flatline

It was ok. The pit was really packed and it was hard to move around. I managed to see most of the concert. Again ok but I dunno if it was worth seeing. It was like watching the tv with a couple of live dancers. Again just MY opinion.

Hope the line for the merchandise shop wasn't as bad as it was at Akasak. they actually had to delay the show by 20 minutes because the line was so bloody long. Ended up spending ¥12000 but I literally had to jump to the storefront and just point at everything I wanted and get the hell out before the show started. Hope they played Night Sky Patrol of Tomorrow and Into Starlight as well because they were quite pleasant surprises considering most of the song list was announced beforehand.

Couldn't think about merchandise cause I'm on a budget and have enough crap in my house. Plus the line was pretty long IMO. Dunno about the songs you listed but they also played We Gotta Run and Shooting Star. I remember the merch line before the concert wasn't that bad, since most of the people just wanted to see what they were selling, plus their app that accepts cards were broken for a bit. After the concert ended, I was lucky enough to be in front and buy my stuff quickly, but boy, the line was really long. I do remember Into Starlight being played because that was the hastily prepared video they were showing during the supposed break, where everybody was cheering for an encore. I had a laugh because of how the petered out cheering was met with a limp appearance of an apple home screen and a media player.

Hey so now that I’m home back from work I can write an in depth review/PERSONAL opinion piece on the IA NYC 2015 concert for what it’s worth (tl;dr Blah Blah). Now I already posted a few things in the topic along with shitty camera pics of the concert itself and the free booklet that was given out at the end, but I can put all my thought into one cohesive post. Also those who also went to the concert feel free to add to the post or correct me if there’s some discrepancies in my reporting, my mind’s not as sharp as it used to be.

Now I’m not an avid IA fan, pretty much P Taka’s song Dream (again this was mentioned in a previous post) made me fall in love with her voice which got me interested in searching for more of her songs. Since this concert is something that comes out once in a blue moon I wanted to make sure to experience it first hand.

First off despite misconceptions I found out that the doors OPENS at 7 and the show starts at 8, not start at 7 which is what I originally thought (I lost the link where I found out about the time of the show). So as the crowd entered the venue it’s definitely a much smaller theater compared to The Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC which was where the Miku Expo was held in last year. When the show started the projector screen rolled up and it revealed a monitor not the “hologram “screen”” that was used for the Crypton Vocaloid shows. So once IA appeared I noticed that aside from looking really beautiful that there was a different quality of her appearance compared to Miku and the rest of the Crypton gang. Her facial features were more defined I guess would be the proper terminology.
