Has anyone here done an abroad program with Japan without speaking any Japanese?

Because as it turns out my school has a program, classes are all in English, help with accommodations and I was thinking of applying.
Even if I have watched my fair share of Japanese things I still only know Hi, Thanks, and two other useless words. And my studies won't have anything to do with Japanese so I won't have that much time to learn.

And unfortunately I don't make good first impression, I make friend at Uni and work but it usually takes me some extra time because I look like an angry psychopath and I'm pretty introverted. But over time it usually works out no problems.

Did anyone in a similar situation do this? Was it great? Okay? Meh?

And it's not like I will just sit at home doing nothing if I don't do this.
If I don't I'll apply for France instead and use that time to immerse myself in french, I know a fair share but I need real world experience and it would be a big help. So not really a situation were I can just go for it because I have nothing to lose.

I think you're better off going to France instead.

Backup plan for the french is to take my Masters there instead but it might be more time than I want to that I need to spend there in that case.

You might be right, just hat I don't see any other real option for me to visit Japan in the next five years if I don't do this. But should be stupid just because we want something.

But I would still be happy to hear other peoples opinions,

I'm just going to bump the thread before going of to bed.

But I would really like some input from people who have been there. How isolated might one get? How hard is it to get a metro card? Just going shopping or setting the microwave. Whatever might have caused you troubles.
