A thread about Formido Oppugnatura Exsequens.

>> No.1387136

Formido means "terror; causing fear, terrible; to dread, to fear." (Where we get Formidable.)

Oppug stems from Oppungo, which is Latin for "to attack, assault." Natura is, of course, Latin for "nature."

Stems from the Latin word exsequi, meaning "to follow."

So, Fearsome Nature Warriors who Follow.

Additionally, their battle music, "Foedus Obrepit Errabundus", roughly translates to something like "the vile, wandering one sneaks up".

I dislike that IOSYS's {°д°} depiction of them gave them a face.
They were much more Formido without faces.

Also, people think you actually fight fuzzballs.
They're on-field placeholders for much more nightmarish god-beasts.

They're from Etrian Odyssey, an RPG on the DS.

They're nightmares as they're basically WANDERING MINIBOSSES that can JOIN NORMAL BATTLES if they're near you when you encounter one.

The first ones you ever encounter will basically be guaranteed game overs if they catch you.

Oh, did I mention if you get their attention, THEY CHASE YOU TO NO END?

You just need to get your party chemistry right and you'll be able to sail through all of the game eventually.

Also, don't be afraid to save, then rest your characters. You lose ten (five in EO2) levels, but you can redistribute all your skill points if you fucked up. Experiment.
