It doesn't insinuate that's what you should do, but rather that it's the sort of life that becomes inevitable by just avoiding things. It's a fact of life that we're not in a society where being a NEET works out.

Those expectations his parents tried to "force" on him (if he didn't run away, nothing was being forced on him; please stay coherent), which he lived up to and he was happy for in the end.

He had every right to deny them and then had the right to take up those responsibilities, in which he found fulfillment because he was, in fact, just running away. Guess it was too complex for you, tyke.

He started drinking while on the farm, watch it again. It was not out of depression over his life or giving up his dream, which was just a fantasy.

>NHK is shit and pushes anti-neet sentiments

Part of being a NEET is constantly being pushed into things you don't want to do and decisions being made by others, but you are in a really weak position or alienated enough not to see alternatives, unmotivated, dependant... you name it.
I didn't get an "anti-neet" message from it. The message I got is that life is complicated and stuff happens and everyone is human. I found it resembled closely a lot of my experiences with life as a neet and I found it to be pretty much in my same wavelength consistently. Yes it had a lot of fantasy and exaggeration but it's fiction. Pretty good overall, just like, saving the distances in tone, Watamote is with my school life, yes I went there. (AND unlike Himouto! Unmeme-chan which is funny but that's it)
I've read the manga though, not sure how the anime compares.

You completely misunderstood the series.
You're very stereotypical of the kind of idiots rampant on boards like /a/ - usually adolescents fresh out of high school, parroting whatever 3DPD, reject reality mantra all day just "i saw people doing it on the internet, it's so funny and cool".

It's ironic that for nearly a decade /a/ have been painting out Satou and Yamazaki to be some 2D purist role model to look up to, when in fact they are far from being their "comrades". In fact, those two characters would qualify as "closet normalfags" which the 2D extremists around here loathe and shun.

>> No.13842412

>>13842410
cont'd

Yamazaki got into anime and manga because he was bullied in school. He fell head over heels over a 3DPD girl all while spewing philosophy about the pure world of 2D. He went back to his hometown to become a farmer was his own decision, not because anyone was forcing him to. The decision stems from a combination of him being unhappy with his otaku life (him spacing out while having pururin playing loudly at the start is one hint), rejection by the VA girl, and the eventual realization that he couldn't carry on living like that forever.

Satou was suffering from the same dilemma, that's why he latched onto Misaki.

At the end of the day, NHK is a story that drew inspiration from the author's experience and perspective as a NEET.
You don't like it because it doesn't praise you for being an otacool/NEET, like the current fad, e.g, the anime in OP's pic, does, good for you.
But it doesn't stop NHK from being a great series.

Can't be NEET forever. It's only human. Blanket rejection of norms is a defense mechanism. It can end up hurting more than it helps by preventing differents from taking the first step towards a rare opportunity.
