"A doller is a cosplayer who performs a variant of kigurumi cosplay. The face is fully covered with a mask, usually meant to look like a human cartoon character, and the costume of the character is worn. In Japan most cosplayers refer to this style as (アニメ顔 - Animegao, or "Anime Face"). It is still a very minor part of the cosplay scene in Japan, though it was around 2005 when it began attracting attention in other countries,..."

I just got an idea that might make kigurumi... participants (artists? practicers? What's the term?) shit bricks.

Animatronics-- that is, make the eyes actually BLINK. That could be a small step towards emoting faces, or at least even moreso "realistic" faces. Something about the masks seems bizarre to me.

Not much room between the mask and your face to fit stuff like that in, plus you need to be able to see out of it. The eye slit is usually at the top of the mask eye, in the black part that makes the eyelashes.

She seemed to be waiting for someone, as the table before her had three empty chairs, none of which were occupied. She sat quietly there, hardly moving, staring at a blank spot on the wall.

I hadn't seen her face yet, but I was immediately intrigued by her. She had a certain self-assuredness in the way she moved, the way she breathed, the way she quietly stared off at nothing important.

Moments like these never seemed to come twice. Choices come flooding into your head, some good, some bad, but none seem to be right.

They flow by so fast that you end up paralyzed to the side, unable to fish one out, until a decision is made for you.

I was staring at her so intently, but with mind so occupied, that I hadn't even realized she had turned and was staring right back at me.

She didn't say a word.

She had been wearing a slight grin on her face as she had stared off into the distance, and that grin didn't change as she now stared into me.

She must have noticed me, yet her expression didn't shift at all. She seemed to be frozen in a state of slight amusement. Perhaps she was pleased by her ability to catch the eye of a random passerby, or perhaps she preferred to be slightly amused by everything instead of setting off complex, possibly unbecoming emotions.

There was no avoiding it now. The flow of decisions had been reduced to a single stream. I couldn't just leave now, she had noticed me, and with her matching stare had locked down my movements. I couldn't just flee, or pretend I was looking at something else, I had to acknowledge her existence.

So I sat down, and started with a "Hello."

She didn't say a word.

Moreover, now that I had seen her face, she didn't even seem to be human.

Her face seemed to be molded from smooth plastic, her slight grin static not from controlled emotions, but from the inflexibility of the material. Her eyes were large and staring, immobile within her face, always looking straight forward, and presently staring into me.

She was some sort of doll person. Likely a costume, though I had no idea why she would be wearing one.

I had a quick look around. The cafe was basically empty, save for a single, normal looking girl behind the register, who looked like she was trying hard not to notice I was interacting with a living, breathing, life sized figurine.

The figurine, on the other hand, kept staring intently at me, completely silent. Whether she was somehow enthralled by me, or just unable to talk was not clear.

I decided to clarify this point.

"Can you speak?" I asked.

I took her silence as an indication that she could or would not. Further conversation seemed pointless.

Oh, on that note, does anyone still have the close up pictures of the mask eyes from the last thread? the one's detailing how they see through these? It 404'd before I cold save it all.

they tried. 3 problems.
1. current servos too slow.
2. mechanism too noisy (especially the solenoid type). ruins overall effect of costume/mask.
3. not enough room in mask for all necessary mechanics/controllers/power unit.

someone (one of the kiggers) has died from not taking the right precautions with the frp stuff. so be careful.

most of the sigma masks, it's not that hard to see them. there should just be an area at the top that a different shade of black than the area around it...that's usually the eye holes

This wasn't working.

She remained silent, patient, seemingly content with simply looking at me, but I was beginning to get testy.

We weren't communicating, so we weren't really connecting. If this continued, we would remain strangers, knowing nothing about the other, and this chance meeting would become unimportant, another footnote in our personal histories.

I couldn't let that happen. There had been far too many singular, unconnected events in my life that had never been expanded on, and I couldn't just let this become another.

I had to do something.

So I did. I stood up, walked to the door, turned to her, and waited.

She didn't react. Not at first. She just stared at me, her expression unchanging, not simply her static, plastic face, but her body language as well, as if I had simply shifted in my seat rather than walked across the cafe.

Then, slowly, she began to shift. Her legs smoothly swept to the right, gliding in sync with the rest of her body, as if her body was a solid piece, unable to twist as a normal person's could. Her arms slid to her sides, her feet pushed to the floor, and her body rose to a stand, her eyes continually fixated upon me.

So we went for a walk.

It was something.

She didn't really seem to care where we were going, either. She just tagged along, following me whereever I went, and I hadn't decided on a destination yet.

We ended up following a set of train tracks close to the cafe. She seemed to buzz around a bit as she walked, sometimes in front, sometimes behind, always examining this or that along the way.

Almost as if she had never seen those things before.

As she wandered about, I took the opportunity to give her a good look over.

Her costume, if that was what it was, seemed perfect. There were no visible seams in her clothlike dollskin, as if it had been made from a single piece. Her face seemed to be as much a part of her body as everything else, any seams or wrinkles carefully disguised with her hair or her salmon pink schoolgirl outfit.

She certainly fit the mold of the figurine brought to life, even if I knew such a thing wasn't possible.

I'm pretty sure it's past the point of no return already, I can't think of any plausible way it can end with sex.

And I'm the one writing it, ffs.
