I don't think I'll be able to finish all of Itoshii Kanojo no Mamorikata. Just like Rectal Merge, it has an interesting setting, but the execution is lacking.

I must say though, I was amused by how half of Yui's story was put into motion by Yuuto wanting a footjob. And by the virgindb article.

Yeah yeah, the intros are always megabloated, but there are games where nothing EVER happens, so I just have to check. the SOL isn't terrible or anything, I just wish there was some kind of context or foreshadowing.

Like in Sharin you have a goal at the start of the chapter, so even if most of the scenes in between are "meaningless", you have a sense of direction.

About this, I don't know much about 5pb, but are they the reason why there is no Steins Gate or Chaos Child characters in this game? It seems like an obvious promotion tool with CC coming out a few months ago and S;G0 coming out in a few months from now, especially when those are two of N+/5pb's biggest series. Did 5pb just refuse to let them use the characters in the game? I am aware Kurisu was in the 5pb fighting game Phantom Breaker but I don't see why they would hold her back because of that after all these years

It has quite a bit of foreshadowing but I don't really get the feeling that something bigger is lurking in the shadow like in Subahibi so it's probably going to stay a charage or something close till the end, albeit with some philosophy mixed in, anyways I don't really see a big genre shift coming.

The trial pretty much plagiarized the old writer's work in the prologue and the amount of the first chapter that I got through. The trial itself isn't that bad, but the fact that scaji claimed that he was completely rewriting the game, listed himself as the only writer until a couple months ago, and still copied decently long sections from the old script verbatim really bothers me. I know he probably owned the rights to it and whatever, but the whole thing just feels really fishy. As far as I know, he could've completely stolen the old writers' scenario and just slightly changed it, cutting a few lines here and adding in random tangents there. I'm pretty sure most people here don't really give a shit because it has a higher resolution, scaji tangents, and a flashy OP, but reading through it and comparing it to what I wanted from the game is just depressing. I've been looking forward to this game since I read the old trial a while back, but at this point, I don't think I can justify buying or playing any of their games in the future.

HitoRen's premise made it obvious Kurenai was going to get the shorter end of the stick in her love triangle between Aori and Kazuki, but I still had hope in my heart that the resolution to this relationship was going to be a soft one, and that Kurenai would still try to take her brother for herself, albeit playfully, in the end. I wanted something that's similar to Chino's interaction with Kazuki and Sakura in the latter's route.

Instead, I got a tearjerking text from Kurenai to cheer Aori on, her moving out of the house to cope with her heartbreak, and her letter to Kazuki that showed how determined she was to tell him how she felt. It just tore me apart to see how painfully earnest Kurenai was about her feelings, and how, in a less cruel setting, her love would have been returned in kind.

So now, I'm vacantly staring at my monitor knowing while there are myriad options of imouto-centric titles I could play to attempt to ease this emptiness, none of them will give me the closure I wanted for the imouto whose route we'll never get. Fuck this gay earth. Fuck ASa Project and their track record of not releasing fandiscs. I'm both angry and sad.

Completed Hatsumira trial.
Not as bad as some people claimed.
Sure protag is a bit special, but there's reason for it (he was growing as orphan, never received any education and was recruited in army very young and was brainwashed there), and its still better than usual hetare shit we get in other works.
Comedy is okay past prologue bit.

I don't like rpg-ish feel to battles with mobs, and that mobs are "okay to kill" zombies rather than humans, but its tolerable.

Heroines are cute and not too archetypical.

If you really want to discuss translated games nothing is stopping you from making your own translated game thread or just moving to /vg/ general. It's an interesting way to change up the cliche heroine roster. In a game like this where almost the entirety of the writing is composed of one comedy sketch after another, she's surprisingly fitting as a heroine.

In your typical eroge, she'd be the unobtainable flower you'd have to wait a fandisc to get a short miniroute for. Here, ASa Project just up and gives you a whole route of what it would be like to have a gag character in the limelight. It's brilliant.

At the very least, whatever I could have hoped for from Achika's route was a fair tradeoff for Risa's route.

Kurenai's route, on the other hand, I'm genuinely salty we didn't get.

The Kurenai thing in the Aori route was seriously dumb as fuck. They told at least 1000 times that you cant fall in love with siblings and how dumb it sounds etc, then suddenly when they couldnt find anything for her route they throw a "but I loved my brother so long :( :(" shit. Also the end of Aori's route was too much out of nowhere & cliche. To be honest she was definitely best heroine and one of the best kouhai heroines I have ever seen, but as always Asaproject failed at doing a good route.

Kurenai was cute from start to finish, and I hated the route for adding in the romantic implications, seemingly just to rub it in my face that she was never going to be a pursuable option. That was the most galling issue I found with Aori's route.

I still also don't understand the significance of the swimming competition and how it related to everything that happened in the route prior to it. The whole thing with Aori's brother and that retarded bit about Australia could have easily been done without. The writer should have gone with the comedic approach like what the writer for Risa's route have, seeing as he obviously can't write a drama worth a damn.
