Like in Sharin you have a goal at the start of the chapter, so even if most of the scenes in between are "meaningless", you have a sense of direction.

suppose for a second that there is a person with both parents in your life since always, siblings too, a happy marriage, and healthy kids. he feels a certain connection with his parents, his siblings, his spouse, and his children, but generally speaking he's "supposed to" value some higher than others.

is there a significant difference between western and japanese standards about how you would rank the "closeness" of those 4 relationships to a person? cause it seems to me recently that japan is WAY higher on siblings and significantly lower on children and parents. is that just cause I read too many VNs and watch too much anime, or am I missing something here?

Yes. From what I've seen, Japanese siblings aren't really closer than any other siblings in other countries. It's just that "do what your elder brother says" still has a different weight there though that also wore off in the last years.

It's different in VNs and anime because they almost always have some incestuous overtones or downright sister fucking. .

The trial pretty much plagiarized the old writer's work in the prologue and the amount of the first chapter that I got through. The trial itself isn't that bad, but the fact that scaji claimed that he was completely rewriting the game, listed himself as the only writer until a couple months ago, and still copied decently long sections from the old script verbatim really bothers me. I know he probably owned the rights to it and whatever, but the whole thing just feels really fishy. As far as I know, he could've completely stolen the old writers' scenario and just slightly changed it, cutting a few lines here and adding in random tangents there. I'm pretty sure most people here don't really give a shit because it has a higher resolution, scaji tangents, and a flashy OP, but reading through it and comparing it to what I wanted from the game is just depressing. I've been looking forward to this game since I read the old trial a while back, but at this point, I don't think I can justify buying or playing any of their games in the future.

Aori's route in HitoRen tore my heart to shreds, and I need to rant.

HitoRen's premise made it obvious Kurenai was going to get the shorter end of the stick in her love triangle between Aori and Kazuki, but I still had hope in my heart that the resolution to this relationship was going to be a soft one, and that Kurenai would still try to take her brother for herself, albeit playfully, in the end. I wanted something that's similar to Chino's interaction with Kazuki and Sakura in the latter's route.

Instead, I got a tearjerking text from Kurenai to cheer Aori on, her moving out of the house to cope with her heartbreak, and her letter to Kazuki that showed how determined she was to tell him how she felt. It just tore me apart to see how painfully earnest Kurenai was about her feelings, and how, in a less cruel setting, her love would have been returned in kind.

So now, I'm vacantly staring at my monitor knowing while there are myriad options of imouto-centric titles I could play to attempt to ease this emptiness, none of them will give me the closure I wanted for the imouto whose route we'll never get. Fuck this gay earth. Fuck ASa Project and their track record of not releasing fandiscs. I'm both angry and sad.

What wrong with a hetare man who do his thing in a eroge? I hope you have a fact to back up a thing you saying because I think a hetare man in eroge is the only character that remain in memory for longer than most. You even talk it in your post. What game you play with a hetare man? Always search for a hetare man in a eroge but come up disappoint each day. I always use a game with hetare. Many game have a hetare but he begin to do things in game and this is not hetare this a damn riajuu man. This not what I want. A hetare man remain true to him goals and not give in a peer pressure of doing a thing.

In future please caution when speak about hetare, it may be realistic if you think.

Doesn't work. In my experience usually this just makes the shitposter feel like they are "winning" and makes them more confident and bolder in the future. Especially when dumb fucks think "ignore the shitposter" means "stop posting anything at all" in which case the shitposter feels a deep sense of glee thinking "look at me, I killed the thread, that feels great!"

To make matters worse you always have a few lurkers who watch this happen and take the silence to mean that the shitposter's opinions actually represent the accepted groupthink, and begin to repeat what they see the shitposter saying in earnest. Really can become a very bad situation after a while.

If everybody in the thread could ignore and report (and actually report! don't just say you're reporting) then yeah, it would probably help, but if even one person has taken the bait then that ship has pretty much sailed, all you can do is to go all-in and try to match them turd for turd. Might seem counter-intuitive at first but I guarantee you it will save you a lot of trouble down the road.

I'm sorry, that's utter horse-shit. Basic knowledge of the world's population distribution, and language popularity prove otherwise.
Since no-one in this thread either wants to or does discuss translated VNs, all any EOP can really do here is shitpost (as shown right now).

>>13792488
People in this thread spend more time reading/playing than asking where to get the FS/N translation etc. and re-discussing the same tired ol' muv-luv. So you get these dead periods in which people shitpost.

>> No.13792517

>>13792504
The thing is that people who know Japanese tend to be a lot more vocal about it than people who don't, due to some kind of misplaced sense of superiority or something. So they kind of tend to drown everybody else out even if they are less in number, and after a while the EOPs sort of get fed up and leave (or pretend they know Japanese too in order to avoid getting ridiculed) solidifying the perceived majority even more.

Like I said, the JRPG general on /vg/ is a really good example of this. The VN general kind of bounces back and forth but at times you can get a similar feel.

Even if what you are saying is indeed the case, that only means it makes even more sense to have separate threads for the EOPs' benefit. If it isn't true then it makes sense to have separate threads for the Japanese readers' benefit. Either way it makes sense to have separate threads.

>> No.13792547

>The VN general kind of bounces back and forth
It's been common knowledge for years that /jp/'s general is for untranslated visual novels and now even the thread title reflects that. If you really want to discuss translated games nothing is stopping you from making your own translated game thread or just moving to /vg/ general. If you want to talk about translation progress there's a thread on /jp/ for that too. As >>13792460 mentioned forcing the communities to mingle just results in the Japanese-readers to be drown out by the English-reading majority, making it harder for the former to discuss the games they're playing or looking forward to.

English players refusing to leave this thread alone just reeks of need to be part of the "cool boys club". It's not simply about the Japanese-readers holding a feeling of superiority, there's also a reason the EOPs are not leaving despite having plenty of different options when it comes to discussing translated titles.

At the very least, whatever I could have hoped for from Achika's route was a fair tradeoff for Risa's route.

Kurenai's route, on the other hand, I'm genuinely salty we didn't get.

The Kurenai thing in the Aori route was seriously dumb as fuck. They told at least 1000 times that you cant fall in love with siblings and how dumb it sounds etc, then suddenly when they couldnt find anything for her route they throw a "but I loved my brother so long :( :(" shit. Also the end of Aori's route was too much out of nowhere & cliche. To be honest she was definitely best heroine and one of the best kouhai heroines I have ever seen, but as always Asaproject failed at doing a good route.

I have stalled at various stages Eustia, Ruitomo, Izuna Zanshinken, Kikaijikake no Eve and Muramasa.
Which one should I read?
Or just start Baldr Sky Force instead?

Kurenai was cute from start to finish, and I hated the route for adding in the romantic implications, seemingly just to rub it in my face that she was never going to be a pursuable option. That was the most galling issue I found with Aori's route.

I still also don't understand the significance of the swimming competition and how it related to everything that happened in the route prior to it. The whole thing with Aori's brother and that retarded bit about Australia could have easily been done without. The writer should have gone with the comedic approach like what the writer for Risa's route have, seeing as he obviously can't write a drama worth a damn.
