if the reason (as stated near the end of the last thread) for changing from sailor and gakuran uniforms to blazer-type uniforms was to prevent students modifying or wearing them disrespectfully, then the japanese school authorities involved had obviously never seen british teenagers in school uniform.

I would hate going to Japanese school for multiple reasons, but one of the top ones is that I would have to wear itchy, hot looking uniforms. I have experienced how humid and hot Japan can get over the summer, and I want none of that shit. Plus Japan doesn't have massive, overpowered energy inefficient AC units like we do here in Murrica.

Japan is a very "hammer down the tall nail" society. Any sort of alternative stuff is pretty much only found in street fashion when not in school. In fact if schools weren't so strict with dress code I'm sure we wouldn't get as many insane street styles out of Japan. Perhaps not in high school, but it seems like "emo" or "goth" is regarded as being "only a phase" that you should snap out of once you graduate. I get weird looks all the time over my hair and attire. It is really unbelievable to me how 90% of 18-28 year olds have a buzz cut and are perfectly fine wearing a tank top and basketball shorts when going out with friends or even showing up to some jobs like that.

Normies instinctually have an adverse reaction towards whatever they perceive as different or unusual and will actively avoid you, deny you employment (despite while in uniform only having "scene" hair), make snide remarks to their buddies about you... generally they are mostly a bunch of piss ants about any look or opinion that is different from the current societal groupthink.

In my school they give us hell if the skirt or the jumper reached too far up the tight, it always amazes me how short jk can use them sometimes... N-not that I'm complaining or anything...

Basketball and American Football mostly.

Come to think of it, in schools there's just a group of cheerleaders. It's similar in Japan too right? There's a club of cheerleaders? I wonder how they distribute themselves to the schools' teams and games. I never really thought about it.

Does Japan have cheerleading competitions too? Although they usually seem more like dance competitions.

If the schools which sports or club activities are flourished, they may have a cheerleader club. In some schools, cheerleaders' team is formed temporarily before the tournament. There are some boys' schools which ask a girls' school for cheerleading.

Cheerleading competitions, yes.
