I've decided to finally delve into 2hus pre EoSD.

Was this the idea of difficulty back then?
To have backgrounds so distracting I can't pay attention to the bullets?

This is ridiculous, I can't even see the bullets in many of the stages because of how they match the color of the background.

The way enemies decide to sparkle when they explode is also horribly confusing as I wind up mistaking their sparks for really tiny bullets and getting hit by actual bullets. Fuck everything is too hard to see. How did anyone deal with this shit back then to the point that it became as popular as it is today?

I really don't see your problem. I find them easier than the Windows games.

THIS FUCKING SHIT

Holy fuck, MS stage 4 is fucking ridiculous for that exact reason. I love MS, but that stage is just impossible to defend, it's ass.

It's still not as bad as those stupid fucking kanji bullets in SoEW. I don't know what the fuck he was thinking with those, they're by far the worst things that have ever been a part of the series to date.

I'm all about that Mystic Square.
I see what you mean in the latter half but, to me, what they have on the later games is a sense of actually fighting with the enemies, rather than just trying to not be in the way of their fireworks display.

Are you color blind?
Also the second thing you complain about sounds like something that would only be an issue to someone who just started playing Touhou.

Are you also color blind?

Shut up, you'll get used to it. Or don't shut up, because a PC98 thread is nice.

Literally no one gave the slightest fuck about Touhou back then. The PC-98 era was unpolished as hell and was on a platform that was dying even back then. The popularity started only by the time of the Windows era and EoSD.

What are you talking about? The last 2 games have more polish than EoSD.

People cared about LLS and MS at least.
But if you're referring to the non game playing popularity that EoSD particularly got.
Then yeah by that basis nobody gave a fuck, but that's not a bad thing.

This. I've only beaten pc98 games

>> No.13569417

The color issues are mainly to do with the limited color palette of the PC-98.

The PC-98, despite being popular well into the Windows 95 era, was grounded in early 90s technology. While the processor was relatively decent, the graphics were just a little above SNES-quality.

If you're having that much trouble seeing shit then stop using Anex. It's a shitty emulator for toasters only. T98-Next is far superior. I've heard Neko-Project II is okay too but I've never tried it because I couldn't get it working properly.

they are different games, get used to them just like you did with the window 2hus, I think they might be even easier than windows 2hu if you do.
