How come Japan never really has a classic rock band? Like a band you think of when you think of rock in Japan. Do they produce too much shit or something? The only real band I can really consider encompassing rock shit is X Japan and they were a bit too visual kei.

The west has a shit load of classic rock bands like AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Pink Floyd, etc. but Japan has none? What is up with that?

>> No.1354181

Alot of J-rock shit is actually pop rock. That's why noone thinks of Japan when they think of rock.

If by "young generation" you mean those who are just plain new. It's cyclical. you're new to the scene and it's interesting and new, but gets old. Which is why it persists today, when it should have died out a while a go.

Also, this undoubtedly fits into the "classic rock" of Japan, as it were. They started in 85 or so.

A lot of Japanese music sounds more melodic to me compared to its western counterpart. Maybe it's just me being underexposed to Japan's overall music scene - or maybe it's just my ignorance showing - but that seems to be reason why some consider Japanese music to be "kiddy music".

I notice what you mean. Much of what I hear produced from Japan relies on more interesting chord-changes and melodies than Western music tends to (with a few exceptions). Eurobeat tends to have these chords too for obvious marketing reasons.

And, I don't see the big fuss about any J-Rock bands. At their very best they're not all that different from American rock bands; at worst they're obvious knockoffs or cheap boy bands. There is NO band you can find in Japan that you won't find a quality-equivalent variant of in the USA. Unless you're into Visual Kei (dead) or the cheapie pretty boys (which the USA has shitloads of), then just listen to good 'ol American R'nR.

If you have diverse and wide tastes and knowledge in music, it's all the easier to pass off with listening to some weeaboo shit. Hell, I know non-weeaboos occasionally listening to weeaboo music (for the novelty of it, at the very least). The key word is occasionally.
