Blassreiter is overall completely watchable.

The character designs are gorgeous, but the monster designs are too plasticky because of the cheap cg, so there are couple of sad looking scenes where you have a hand drawn human character versus the monsters.

Plotwise it's okay, until after ep 13 it starts falling apart when it slips into bits of ridiculous melodrama. Also new characters in their combinable mecha appear when previously it was all about hunting monsters with cool looking motorcycles.
Basically then the series descends into one long final apocalyptic battle.

Strike Witches may not be very original, but at least it wasn't shit like almost all of Gonzo shows, and I enjoyed it a lot, so it's enough for me to call it good.
