Made a temporary test fort to test all the stuff I added into the fairies to see if it was working properly and fixed a bunch of stuff. Fire and Ice kedamas are looking to be demoted to just biting things really fast and shooting long-ranged bullets respectivley as I shift their elemental magic to spellbooks instead, which one can transform said kedamas into because I can't really find a better system to represent them.

Spellbooks mark the first major expansion to the next monster category; constructs. These include dolls, the Yin-Yang Orb, and the golems that already exist in Dwarf Fortress, among other things.

Fairies flying is most likely going to be disabled by default, though how to toggle them will be detailed in case you want to play adventure mode with them. I doubt most players will be patient with the issue of getting them down from trees.

Leprechauns were made more common, though they're still overwhelmingly outnumbered by female fairies. This was done because some fairy civs had the possibility of being generated without any, and would subsequently die out as the process that magically spawned them into existance every few centuries quit working. This also makes an underground "leprechaun hall" viable for the endgame.

Should I do anything special with the Suikas? I was thinking of giving them some system where they can ask for blessings from the big Suika Ibuki, such as drink from her gourd or a loan of her strength, but half the point behind them is that they're basically dwarves with minor flavour changes to make newbies to DF familar with the mechanics.

After all, what's the one thing that all anons have in common that make them wreched and dispicable? Their single-minded, hedonous, violent nature. Good to hear. I built it out of a combonation of Suika Fortress 34.1's tiles and the tiles of a another defunct Touhou mod after the fellows in /dfg/ complained it was hideous, as well as being outdated.

Most of the basic groundwork is done and the two major races remain playable, but I need to fix some basic balancing and add, if not all the races, enough to compensate for all the civilizations that are removed by default, with subterranean civs in particular being something I'm trying to fill in, with more sulking civs coming afterward to give the thieving fairies someone to trade with.

Also need to balance the spawn rate of monsters so that major youkai are less common; it's not fun to have a pack of heigui suddently appear in front of your barracks and turn your fledgling military into a snack. The youkai bestiary is looking a bit bare at the moment as well, and a bunch of yukkuri are still missing from last version, but the former can be fixed in time and the latter isn't too pressing at the moment, as most yukkuri are redundant anyway.

The working megabeast respiratory is barebones, with the Goliath Doll, Evil Eye Sigma, Shrine Tank, Rumia, Mystia, Wriggle, and Imposter Cirno as all the working megabeasts so far. Tensoku has issues with one of its special abilities I've been trying to iron out, involving animating its own rocket fists after they're knocked out. Many more megas are planned, but Iit's again something I'll need to find the time to do.

The first release will likely be riddled with dozens of minor bugs, but they shouldn't be game breaking bugs; mostly just minor errors in the creature coding due to redundancies I haven't entierly ironed out yet or minor lines of coding that no longer do anything in the latest DF version that I haven't yet found the time to track down and remove.

All in all, if people really want it to be realeased, I can cave in and give the latest build by the end of the month, but it'd be very, very rough.

I originally wanted to make cannons of the kind seen in SoEW and the Mega Mari games actual siege weapons, but it's currently impossible to mod that sort of thing in beyond giving the ballistas different ammo, so the ballistas remain ballistas.

Spellbooks exist for the fairies as "turrets" of sorts; they're technically creatures, and can be targeted and destroyed, but they're in essence immobile and require no upkeep, and can be placed behind a fortification to make a static trap that triggers when invaders move to its line of sight.

More work on magic, with rudimentary abilities based on spellcards. So far, humans that become magicians receive Patchouli's basic abilities as well as a polymorph effect. Most types of magic will likely be written by the Magician race once I get to implementing them; the best way to gain new spells is to raid their towers and libraries Marisa-style and read their engraved slabs; returning them is optional.

Fairies were also given a new building and a bunch of new reactions as I overhaul the crystal system: it only takes four shards as well as some blocks in order to make a pedestal for a Grand Crystal, but to unlock its stronger abilities beyond caste changing, more shards have to be procured: either through chance, or by using the new building to manually buy them from 100 gold coins (the building itself generates coins at an inefficient rate if manned, and can purchase other things.)
