How long did it take for you to get good in Touhou?
I started playing around three months ago and I still need at least one retry to finish easy mode.

It took me around a month to get my first normal 1cc, and 4 months to get my first lunatic 1cc. Having a community (streaming on twitch) to play with really helped with the motivation, I think.

I don't think I'm good, but I'm playing for something like 6-8 months and got some lunatic 1ccs and am currently going for my first lunatic no bomb clear. If you take longer to improve you shouldn't get discouraged though, since from my experience as long as you keep trying you will always improve in these games (I'm pretty slow myself)

Look around your character instead of focusing on your character. The only time your red dot should be your prime focus is if it's a tight squeeze. Also bomb if in doubt. Death bombing is nice and all but unless you get it 95% of the time, you will waste your bombs cause you died. Lastly, there will be some characters you are absolutely garbage at and you hit a brick wall. Play some other games and take a small break. UFO, SA, and EoSD are considered the hardest so it might be better to switch games if you hit that wall and go back after you get better.

Reimu is usually the best option, needle if available.
Exceptions are Marisa B in MoF, Sakuya B in PCB and Yukari/Reimu in SA.

I started playing around 2008, in about a week I was already doing 1CC hard mode on Eotsd, but that game is the easiest of all touhou games.
I still have not 1CC'd SA even on normal, the bullet patterns are really fucked up and they're not immediately obvous what you're supposed to do.

I dont really play that often, ten desires was the last one I played and I also mananged to 1CC hard in about a week, the bullet patterns were just as easy as eotsd

I dont get Parsee and I dont bother to learn something if it looks stupid.

Finished EoSD within 20 days of first starting on normal with no continues, Marisa B.
Cleared all the others within the next 4-5 months, 3 or 4 games cleared a month each. All normal and without continues.
