I was just thinking today, until today I have always thought that perfume attempting a big break into America is a bad idea, I feel they are bound to fail if they try unless they go full sell out and become a meme team. but if they do fail they will go back to japan, probably have a hiatus, PTA would likely stay up, and they likely would use it more often, then inevitably they come back with some crunch and knock us the fuck out with GAMEx3 if nakata hasn't drank himself to death or eroded his brain from producing too many songs for too long

while I loved story it had too many unoriginal elements in it and if I didn't already like perfume I probably wouldn't chase it up, same for display and sweet refrain. nakata is still above average but if he had a break something tells me he would be hitting homeruns with ever track like in the good ol days.

maybe they would even rerecord their old songs to suit a now more mature group, it wouldn't really make sense to use songs recorded when they were 20 as it would sound so unfitting.

call me a faggot but I think crashing and burning while trying to make it in America may be better in the long run, if they keep going as they are in japan they will likely just fade out away and possibly even worse, become competently generic in the process of trying to stay relevant.

that's great to hear, I expected people to stop as when I made it I tried to compress it and failed which basically means when you extract the folder you basically have the file twice meaning you have to have 30 gbs worth of shit and half of it being no use to you I'm too lazy to remake it can someone reupload as just the folder or perhaps successfully compress it so its less of an issue.

I had a ratio of like 8.0 when I deleted it so I'm not a TOTAL piece of shit stopping seeding.

LEVEL 3 or triangle next as they have the same theme but triangle uses a lot more vocal effects than level 3 does I say level 3 because it is better to transition from GAME (natural sounding voice clips, more vocal focused) to LEVEL 3 (natural sounding , more melody focused) to triangle (synthetic sounding voice clips, melody focused) than from game to triangle, though game and triangle are both great albums.

I'm watching fancams from sxsw and I maintain as I said quite a few threads ago Perfume can make it in America, but I think if they want really want to, they will HAVE to sing live. It is something that is important here and led to a lot of problems for pop singers in the (even recent) past. Perfume is okay for now, but for the future they might want to consider it.

Personally, I may be biased by culture, but while I enjoy the actual recorded songs, I'd live to hear their music live with their real voices. Even if Nocch and Yuka can't keep up, it will be received well and appreciated considering. We don't expect perfection. We expect real.

I think their biggest problem is they're too wishy-washy over their sound direction. A-Chan hated Triangle because of how overly processed it was even if it was a brilliant album with a great electro-pop sound to it.

My Color/Have a Stroll/Toki No Hari are what you get when you get natural/organic/live/regular/however-you-want-to-call-it vocals and they're among their most boring and forgettable songs with the former My Color being agonizingly boring during encores compared to some of their great finishers like Wonder2 or Negai and it doesn't look like there's an end in sight to it either.

Either make an album with nothing but processed songs to the dislike of some of the group's members(A-Chan) or make a live album at the expense of the presentation of the group and dislike of some of the group's members (Yuka).

I have no problem with the lip synching and I have no problem with the mic stand songs but when you mix them into an album like JPN or Level3 then it isn't coherent and it just ruins everything.

All depends on what they want, and how long they think they can last in Japan. Their dancing doesn't have to take a halt. Suzuka Nakamoto proved that you can have an extremely intense dance routine and still sing exceptionally well and it is attributed to her western success. A~chan will clearly stand out above Nocchi and Yuka but they will all be respected as a whole.

Because that's not what their music is about. Perfume isn't Kyary, Kyary sings live on stage to music backed by Nakata and Perfume don't sing live.

The day Perfume sacrifice what made them famous- their heavily processed vocals is the day they become Kyary's Older Backup Dancers that host Music Japan every week.

Perfume are now 4 #1 albums into their career. it doesn't make sense for them to completely change their approach and enter a new market now. it would be the wrong decision.

if I were Perfume's management, I'd recommend keeping their Japanese empire, continue to branch out to east asia, and be more accessible to Western fans - make their albums easier to buy, open up PTA membership, english subtitles, etc.
