For the longest time I didn't lose any karma for killing the named npcs at the party event. I would just go to the party, shoot up the place killing the named npcs, cook the corpses in front of everyone, eat the npcs, and then read books while everyone whispered to each other nervously until I failed the quests. Then for some reason my karma of 20 shot down to a karma of -2 for some reason at one party and I could of swore that the above was all I was doing. Maybe accidentally killing other 'innocent' people aside from the named npcs did it? I did have the rail gun at the time.

I tried to "reinstall", that is, I tried to redownload the game and extract it, as there is no install feature. Didn't work.

I also tried to change system locale from jap to english. Didn't work.

I also tried to extract the game to a folder with a short path and play from there. Didn't work.

However, something changed along the way. I am no longer getting crashes on game startup (they were happening about 50% of the time), only always on game close now. It just displays the standard windows "elona.exe has stopped working" message. I haven't noticed any adverse effects.

go ahead and stack up on all of them, then switch over to whatever god you want to stick with last. The secret treasures stay, but the passive bonuses for following a god don't. Just max out each god and grab the pets and weapons. most are fairly useful.

Opatos, jure, kumi, yacatet all level fairly fast. Easy items that can be gotten from the main map (junk stones, leaf vegetables) or from the puppy caves (junk jewelry)

Ehekatl + itzpalt are middle ground, since fishing and carpentry are required but you can get the offerings in bulk quickly.

luluwy and mani probably take the longest, due to rarity of items needed.

I'd suggest luluwy or kumiromi last, for the speed bonuses or the bonus stamina, depending on how you play. Optatos, jure and itzpalt are good early game gods. Luluwy'd be better if you never plan on farming though, since her skill boosts are better for battle.

The gemstone you get from jure is ALWAYS useful, as it's a free healing rain with a high effect every 12h. It's really useful when you get tossed into something awful like a black hornet swarm and have to cure five people's poison at once.

I don't really have any nice shield so I was thinking about putting Kaneituuhou on second hand slot, just for the resist and skills bonuses.

I think I used to be meh, all I ended up doing was delivering shit to the different towns and making lots of money like that.So, any tips on what to do for an amateur player? I want to get into this but I don't seem to have much to do other than die. Am I doing something wrong?

Go for it if you're having fun. Some people might think some of the extra races are overpowered but for the most part they're really either underpowered or just normal. Even the god races are just normal in my eyes. Most of extra races are lacking body parts which sucks early game because gear, for the most part, is what gives you resists, pv/dv, and other things necessary for survival. The speed advantage offered by some of the races is nice but the normal races can easily build towards those speeds or just take up riding.

Katana will hit a bit harder in terms of physical damage, ether dagger will hit harder overall until enemy resistances start ramping up, and will always hit harder when element scar invokes and sticks. Dagger will also, obviously, hit more.

You could also stick the tonfa in your shoot slot if you're not doing much shooting. It'll provide full effect, including damage bonus.

Poison resist is nearly useless IF and ONLY IF you have equipment that negates the poison status effect.

I'd say so. Dual wield trains fairly quick due to how many attacks it generates, and with +accuracy weapons you won't have a HUGE issue with missing. You might have to slum it in lower level dungeons than you were adventuring in for a bit, but if you focus your platinum on DW for a bit it should pop right up.

It's got a higher to-hit bonus, therefore it'll hit more. +16 to the katana's +12.

You can't make it into normal cloth but spirit cloth is the lightest valid material and it's a pretty significant weight decrease. You'll have to use potentially a bunch of change/superior material scrolls to get it though. Or just return to your home whenever you want to sleep in the nice bed.

Okay, I just got a crash while ingame. I cannot continue playing like this, since a crash might happen when I have been playing for hours. I tried to set the elona.exe affinity to only 1 processor and that didn't help either (I have a 6 core).

Where can I download old versions of Elona+, to see exactly when my machine starts to dislike the program?

I had an old version 1.35R2 on my computer and it works nicely in regards to stability.

Never had one. Extra damage was rumored to be dildos unless you heavily stacked one type. Damage was all-in on magic or reliably nightmare/elemental scar the shit out of things. Resist sticks were resist sticks.

Fireball is a magic spell, but potion throwing and fire breath are abilities.

I don't know if the magatama prevents item destruction by fire, but if it does, it would solve all of your issues. The Japanese wiki just says that it prevents that little fire pillar from appearing (so does rain, but burning a tree in the rain still makes it disappear). You should test when you get one.

Golem for fighter/hybrid types for the Life bonus and the dim immunity. Speed penalty can be ignored if you take riding.
Anything other race that has something that is not replaceable by AP.

Why not fairy? Because you will need at least 20 Hero cheeses just to get it's life up to 100 while other races only need to spend some AP to get the speed if they want to walk instead of riding a t-rex.
It's also tedious to find enough flying scrolls to gear a fairy.
The resists are really nice though.

It's normal. Potential potions show up at around 200, more commonly 300+, flying scrolls at around 500, descent at around 700. Always invest in 50s, never in 1s. Investing skill is going to be a very high skill by the time you reach late game.

Medals should go for scrolls of growth. I'm on my fifth playthrough and I didn't even get the Sage, Tonfa, or Diablo. Just growth growth growth.

then saving and exiting
Then going to the save folder and replace the castle map with the dungeon map, voila, dungeon sized map with castle limits (items etc)

Also as you progress in MA you will learn 2 special actions that only work with unarmed(or shield/claw/tonfa).

Sounds like you need to get better and it seems RNG has not been kind to you as far as dungeon lvs go. If it's true that dungeon lv spawns are partly based on fame you can always purposely lower your fame by failing quests. For Hunting, Parties, and Gardening quests just run to the end of the map and leave.

What lv are you btw and what about the dungeons are giving you a lot of difficulty? Is it a particular enemy?

It has a crap range modifier though which means if it has no invoke on it chances are it will either deal jackshit for damage or you're almost at melee range, might as well just step ahead to whack shit. I have a feeling it would be overpowered without that.

I do believe throwing is fun and awesome but we can not reach a version number of 1.42fix2 without skills being constantly re-balanced in order for them not to be "master race".

Shadow step uses the melee slot(s), and if you equip any gun in the melee it becomes a blunt weapon that does half the damage. Not to mention if you have a thief character, most if not all your shadow steps will result in a crit. No use having ### crit on your weapon.

I could only imagine shadow-stepping into a crowd while using claws/tonfas/whatever-floats-your-boats and on the next turn(s) shoot with the gun. but that would waste your initial turn and the crit that comes with stealth.

I found that named recruitable NPCs tend to spawn for Beauty and the Beast quests, but never for "Escort needed".
I once also got the 2nd wing snail in a quite high level hunting quest. It's difficulty was somewhere between 15+ and 20+ #.

Looks like he's taken a bit of a liking to sticking his head where it doesn't belong at the end there, so either he's very new (could be a kid or someone who's never played a game before) or actively suicidal.
The deaths in Port Kapul and Truce Ground imply that he's either very unlucky; quaffing every well he sees (again, could be too new to know the dangers) or is literally cursed.

The portable cooking tool is all I've used since lv 3 to 51. BBQ set is nice but certainly not a must have. I make croquettes, skewers, salads, sherbets, and fried stuff consistently with the portable cooking tool. Just keep raising your cooking. Though these days I've switched over to the pot of fusion since I have a nice herb farm going and high gardening.

I had to use a couple of the points I get from leveling to get cooking to a reasonable lv but I thought it was worth it to be able to cook the things I kill when I go dungeon diving. If you do happen upon a BBQ set through what anon said about pickpocketing or other means definitely use it but you can get by with a cooking tool like I did if you don't have one.

Hoarding not so much, but a (tri)magistus is pretty useful for clearing out small fry, and if you inherit one made by a strong character it can easily carry you through the entirety of North Tyris.

The damage will never be good, unless you've spiked alchemy and/or control magic to crazy levels compared to your combat abilities, or inherited it. But it's free AOE, so it'll clean out rooms of trash enemies right quick.

Why even exist if it's garbage? It barely turns anything into anything useful and now it's only 1. they're expensive, not overly common, and if you're fill charge spamming it's incredibly expensive. For fucking nothing.
