They don't use different formats at all. The only difference is a weak-ass encryption key, which you can very easily pull from the executable (it's an unstripped symbol) or from memory. I've pulled all of them out and tested both packing and repacking.

Where did you get that quote from? Since I'm not sure if you're making fun of the quote or asking about it, I'll explain; the choices in the Sono Hanabira games don't seem important, but they are important. They essentially decide whether you get the good ending or the bad ending. One of the bad endings is brickshitting, to say the least. In the other titles they're pretty boring endings. Unfortunately, in some of the titles, the actual choices required for a particular ending are very unintuitive, essentially leading to a bit of trial and error.

Well, I replayed the first one, and it was the one I was thinking of, but it turns out I was mistaken on both counts.
1) The scene in question happens in both good and bad endings, without alteration - in the bad ending, the game just ends immediately after that scene with no explanation whatsoever. (that's why they're annoying)
2) It wasn't that brickshitting at all. It was brickshitting to me when I first played it, for some reason, but yeah, as far as these things go, not really.
