This is what makes "character development" make sense: a character brings something with them to build off of. "I come from the outside world and wheee this is like a video game" does not allow for much development because it has nothing to do with the world she's now in and how it works. Gensokyo is not the modern-day outside world and hunting down youkai has more reasons behind it than "lawls funtiems!". Relating this to her backstory only results in it having nothing meaningful to connect to, at best, or at worst, 4th-wall-breaking jokes.
