Get pets, dude
With enough effort, equipment, and training, you can get pets to your own and beyond amounts of damage dealing. Plus, you should give them equipment that lets them attack or shoot twice in the same round, like the arbalest or twin edge. I happen to have extra miracle amulets with the same attributes of both, so I have four pets with double attacks.

With enough pets, you'll deal huge chunks of damage every single turn. With 5 good pets, a boss taking 10 minutes should take 2 minutes.

Carpentry can be used to mass-produce lightsabers. Odds of getting a living miracle or godly lightsaber in the first batch should be pretty good based on what I'd expect your material reserves to be given your stats. If you don't mind a little savescumming, you can have a living lightsaber in pretty much no time.

You can put shooting weapons in the melee and you can use that as a blunt weapon. Likewise you can put melee weapons in the shoot slot and it will be treated as a thrown weapon.

Many people put melee in the shoot slot just for the bonus it provides even if they are horrible at throwing stuff and vice versa. Not surprisingly, some weapon can actually do pretty well on the opposite slot (Gerbera Cross seems to be a pretty respectable 2h weapon).

Around 40-80k every run. You'll also greatly levelling negotiation by doing so, and gains will really start to show.

Yes, sometimes you might not be able to sell everything, but that is kinda the point. More cargo while traveling=more bandits=more free cargo got from defeating them, including expensive ones like pianos and christmas trees. It is relatively easy to increase the traders' ranks, and by that time you can sell everything to them.

Elona is truly a merchant simulator.

You don't need mutation protection after a point.

With just the happy apples you get from quests (3 maybe, so +60 luck?), you will rarely get mutation dreams (anecdotal, I have 200 luck and every time I drink an evolution potion, nothing happens).

Evolution potions just tend to show up pretty frequently too.

The only necessary quests in South Tyris are Demonstration for the Kumiromi Statue and Pirate hunting for the Dynamic Saber. Other than that, your attributes should be at Superb at all times and your medals should go straight to blessed scrolls of growth, consumed ASAP. I moved next to Lumiest so that I could get access to its two magic shops. I don't know if you're out of that mid-game pit, where you're at all-Hopeless and potions of potential aren't being sold, but you need to invest to get out.

Your level and the dungeon level is going to get farther and farther apart from here on out. But there should really only be a few enemies that give you trouble, like the great race of yith or dragon zombie, so just get carry mutation potions and rods of change creature and you should be able to get by--you need that dungeon money and medals. Pay attention to the enemies that give you AP, and start saving up for two feats. I highly recommend Barrier.

If I were you, I'd start being extra careful not to miss precious items, including those spawned by adventurers. The Twin Edge, Gemini, and Thorn Shield are great items to have. I was carried through south tyris by the GAU-17 Custom which fires twice and confuses the fuck out of enemy mages before mowing them down (if they didn't die by mana reaction first).

Well, just grind. You'll get there. Last boss is a bitch.

I think you should.

Dual wield gives you two weapon trainings (and therefore attribute training). If you use Kumiromi Scythe and Rankis, you will train STR, CON, and DEX with a single attack, and WIL if you ride something (which two handed generally doesn't let you).

I'm not used to elosnack, so I just shot 50 times and counted while only wearing the ring and some random trash bow. I shot twice 16 times out of 50, so 32% of the time.

It seems to be less frequent than Flash Crossbow which is 500, but it IS #####+ which is higher than Gemini's ##### at 200. So I would estimate 250-450. Not quite Twin Edge's 600. If this analysis makes any sense.

I figured the Winchester Premium with the Arbalest is superior. Or the Valkoinen Kuolema.
The number of extra attacks doesn't stack for three in one turn, just a higher chance of a second one. So why not get a better gun? Most late game monsters have high resistances anyway. And it's heavy.

It seems like a sick gun though, so please prove me wrong. What major advantages could it have? Will it still confuse and suck health with superior resistances?

If you're gonna use a gun, the Railgun is superior to both the GAU-17 and the Winchester Premium unless you REALLY need that silence invoke. Or don't like massive explosions going off everywhere.

The major advantages of the GAU-17 are the extra shot which does bring damage above the WP if you don't have any other form of extra shot equipment and the health drain. The drain effect does become less effective as enemy resistances increase, but that's what the nightmare spell is for.

Do you consider south tyris late game?

There's no magic user in south tyris that has the sound resistance to not get confuse-locked after getting shot only a few times. It shuts up mages just as well as the Premium.

Like this steel armored spider--according to the wiki, it has Superb sound resistance, but got confused the moment I shot it, and couldn't put out a single acid puddle. I'm pretty sure that it fists black baptists, black boxes, and mirage griffons up the ass too, threatening enemies for my golem character in South Tyris that turned into stumbling jokes.

The GAU is like several precious guns with intrinsic double shot; I think you could be better served using the Twin Edge instead of the Arbalest. But it's personal preference in the end, I don't use the GAU anymore, I use the Gemini, mainly because as you mention, the GAU is heavy all the while I'm starting to use magic more and don't like failing.

Maybe I'm just overly fond of it.

In addition to the other suggestion, there's a usuable one in the Doctor's lab in Melugas. You can't pickpocket it, but if you don't mind the walk occasionally, you can use it until you find enough sisters to do their quest.

You can also cheat for one if you want, but turning on Wizard mode and using an F5 wish, then using Elosnack to turn wizmode back off. It depends on how serious you are about playing fair.

Mainly just a few trees on the first floor for infinite free food and a handful more on the second floor in my Japanese pleasure garden.

8s is a bit above what's easy to make work, but 4.something is perfectly workable. The exact magnitude of the penalty is derived from the weight of the weapon and your riding skill, so it's not TOO long before you can swing around a light end of heavy weapon from little girlback.

Or you can just get so swole that even a -300 to accuracy doesn't matter to you. But that's pretty lategame.

This actually works fine, as long as you do it at the right time. Hunting quests work well, since you don't get the usual death penalty. All it'll cost you is some fame and possibly a stat point. You'd also have to use whatever blessed potions or somas again, since death cancels those boosts.

Thinking about playing Elona+ again. If I can't find my old save file I might need to make a new character. I did pretty well as a gunner that used spells. Are there any other skill combos/builds that people would recommend? I went around towns and found tons of medals. Then I got my rod of dom. I don't even HAVE the magic device skill yet.

I went to a beginner dungeon, and as soon as I saw a Silver Bell, I used my rod of dom. Took all four charges, and on the last one it finally stuck.

Say I want to grind the bare minimum possible, no frills North Tyris clear in the least amount of time without using a bullshit gene file. I've heard that it's doable in less than 40 hours. On my current furthest run I'm nearly 80 hours in and I can barely even clear L20 dungeons.

I remember 2-h melee needing some pretty decent RNG luck on drops and grinding or you have to hold back and make up for it by teleporting/grind more gold for more enchants/ or flat out spend 10's of hours grinding up skill so it doesn't matter. Can claymore and shield work? Will chaos ball just obliterate you? Can you take it if you luck into enough of chaos/randart gear, +10 it, then abandon your other resists to swap into it pre-zeome fight?

Ditto with gunner but even more reliance on RNG for bullet sets

But then magic had mage guild pretty much required and an obscene dosh cost offsetting any hope of getting invested shops soon

I ask cause I'm an altoholic sick to death of having to all-in on cooking/prostitution to climb out of that horrible early game pit where all your potential is bad, you can barely make storage costs let alone investment and higher enchant costs for better material type, base item, potential, affix/suffix gear, and PV/DV total. Like, I want to get back to the dungeons and main them but it's a traitorous money pit of death and despair that needs a gorillion sheckles so you have the stuff to slog through dungeons you'd otherwise be able to do.

P.S. How do you guys deal with the occasional sound/chaos/nerve/ etc hound packs? I've tried to get as much decorated amulet/ring of a bunch of different ## types for a little coverage but it's never enough. The problem I keep seeing with MA is that you're giving up the nice stat and resist boosting gear you could of have used but decided to go bare fists instead. Basically, MA's damage dice keep increasing over time such that, at stupidly high skill levels, you'll deal more damage with MA than with anything short of an inner god weapon.
Because MA has a slower damage multiplier increase, however, an inner god weapon will deal just a bit less base damage but have a much better multiplier. And you can get a inner god weapon WAY faster than you can grind MA to 2000.

Don't necessarily have to be at the mercy of RNG. You can always aim to get a weapon through God worship and bringing them what they like. Those weapons are actually pretty good. Also there are certain fixed dungeons with bosses that drop fixed gear that are good too. Casting is too good to pass up. Once you've got a nice god weapon and some of those nice fixed gear drops from those fixed dungeons you should be able to clear dungeons and quests pretty quickly and amass a sizable fortune to fund your spells and other needs.

Any armor should work just make sure you have nice resists especially in chaos. Picking up casting should definitely help. Teleport and healing spells will be your best friends in any boss fight. I personally prefer Lulwy because I like speed but go with what you like.

Best way is to join the mage guild in Luminest and talk to the npc that reserves spell books. Make sure to also invest in that npc so he reserves more books you like. Then just buy books off of him and train the relevant skills. Also, you can farm the puppy dog cave for spell books as well if you're not rolling in cash. But yeah....learn relevant magic casting skills....join guild....cast spells everywhere.

Get magic dart and lightning bolt fairly stronk so you have a nuke for boss fights then take it easy on them until you're in the mage guild. Like a 100-150 stock reserve. That way one book will last you until you get the next. Doing dungeons will give you enough random books that you'll get by on nether arrow, ice bolts and so on. Hoard your ancient books then decode and turn them into the mage guild. Then reserve, buy, invest, go out and cast all the spells.

I haven't gotten into the mid-game without splatting but supposedly there's enough utility in the darkness/mind/nerve/nether spells that it's a fine alt while your potential is recuperating in your other spells. Train magic capacity like a fiend. All there really is to mages is cast, cast, cast, spend plat to up potentials. Your spells shouldn't hit 400% potential. If you can handle the boredom feel free to take a bunch of food to the puppy cave once a month, gather 8 goblins or whatever and mash wait to help train up evasion and shit.

The trick I find helps is to keep a clear choice of spell in mind. Typically, your early game damage dealer will be Magic Arrow, and your late game damage dealing spell will be Magic Ball. Therefore, deal damage with nothing but Magic Arrow until you either run out of spell stocks for MA or can cast MB. Once you can cast MB, switch totally over, even if it hurts your cast chance or damage output at first. Spell level is KING for casters. Also don't forget to train your buffs. If a buff spell or healing spell is above 380% potential, it needs to be leveled at once before you sleep.

To maintain this sort of one-spell spam, you will NEED to get into the mages guild ASAP, so don't put it off. Puppy cave's great for grinding books.

Also don't slack on your magic stat, and grab spell enhancement gear when you find it, but that should go without saying.

If potential for a primary gets too low, I do something other than high-end combat for a few sleep cycles unless I'm past the point when spell stock matters. Performances, harvest time, just running cargo around, grinding the puppy cave for ancient books, letting a pet get kills, etc.

I personally hate the RNG, but that generally works out. I personally just cart around a bundle of sleeping drugs and a pet with Rain of Sanity for fighting yith. And a rod of change creature for emergencies.

If I'm having spell stock throughput issues, I only read books when I fall below 100 stock or am about to enter an area where I'll need a lot. If I'm past the point where I need to conserve stock, I read them as I get them.
