You know, I think it's interesting the way there's a direct parallel with what's happening to character design and UI design. Designers seem willing to trade solid lines and solid functional designs for fuzzy, translucent, air-brushed low-contrast, glossy, "crystal-clear" "luna" "aero" type surfaces.

Really when talking about trends in character design you have to talk about trends in graphic design and general, and I don't much care for the monotony of the glossy, glassy, air-streamed, textured-translucency which everybody seems to insist on today.

It's nice on the surface, but it feels rather sterile and impersonal.
