A magical place if you avoid the tourist trap shops.

NOW THIS IS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT BABY. I would really like to know too

There's lots of 2hu merchandise. Lots of doujinshi. Lots of retro games and electronics. Lots of figures. It was basically everything I expected it to be. I used an old camera that doesn't use SDHC scard and was able to buy more memory right off the street.

I'm not sure why everyone harps on it other than all the tourists. I went to Denden Town too and that wasn't much better tbh.

most of the good stuffs are hidden in the underground stores, the main street is littered with overpriced shops and tourist traps.

>> No.12939004

Look down the sidestreets, adventure. Main strip is okay but not as great as it's made out to be

Some like it, some hate it. I love it, but it changes quickly. Best not to get attached to certain shops or locations, they'll be gone or relocated soon enough.

Do your research and go to shops that 2ch says are good like akiba oukoku, all the other stuff is tourist bait and most likely love live shit. Many chain stores seperate the Touhou, Vocaloid and Music so you gotta plan ahead. It's fun for me to go every couple of weeks but after a while you'll go there only for the new releases or meeting up with friends.

I bought a NGE boxset there.

Pretty similar to akiba. Smaller obviously but also a bit cheaper. definately worth visiting if you're in osaka. The shin sekai area to the south is also pretty interesting

Pic related is shin sekai. not otaku related but theres a tower that is a total tourist trap, a giant box of pocky, a massive muscleman shop and some absolutely fantastic restaurants

>> No.12942165

>>12940000
I found it lacked the cohesive feel that akiba has, and it wasn't nearly as lively. It might have changed quite a bit though, I haven't been there since 2009. Like anon said though, it's worth a visit if you're in osaka.
