Rewritefag here. Finally gone through Common, in the beginning of Kotori now.
This stuff is really melancholic. It's so obvious that they're do nothing more than play pretending that their whole normal life hasn't crumbled to dust, and that any moment now it will show. What with everyone saying "you should just forget about it". The melancholy feeling is pretty well-made, though, so I really enjoy it.
Also, don't understand anything that is happening. Want to say "screw you" to the guy who recommended to start with Kotori, but it probably wouldn't have worked as well if I played through Lucia before.

DJT by itself is really more of a vent for funposting about language learning, pretty much. You don't really learn Japanese on imageboards in general.
It did help me a lot, though.
First of all, it had ALL the required materials. I tried learning Japanese when I didn't know what I should be using or what exactly is good or bad, and it turned out terrible. Some materials which were there I found on my own, but some I never suspected about. If anything, only reading the Guide was fully worth getting addicted to 4chan (which happened more or less after I found DJT, by the way). It gave me focus.
Second, DJT is really great for setting people straight about how you should really learn the language. I know that may sound weird, but people on DJT genuinely do understand what they're talking about, mostly. They have their autistic quirks, but mostly their advice is perfectly fine. You really can't learn language without reading or listening to it a lot. College courses really ARE useless mostly. You really do need nothing more than some goddamn discipline to learn a language by yourself.. And everybody does have their own learning methods. And Steve is genuinely right about most of the things he says, except for anything involving LingQ. All these things I didn't figure out before hanging out there straightened me out. For as much as they are reviled, endless arguments about learning methods really were helpful and really did make it better at explaining how you should learn things. Most of the methods remaining are genuinely something that would work, with all the hack methods thrown out. I do feel I actually understand what the hell I am doing a lot better after hanging out there.

>> No.12935108

>>12935105
And third... It may probably be opposite for most people, but it actually also helps me keep motivated. DJT's ruffian brand of language learning really is refreshing, and for the first time in years I actually feel like learning Japanese is actually something achieved by determined humans in two years tops, and not by obsessed multilingualism cultists after decades of praying to "wa" and "ga" gods. It feels human and achievable. Also, because the thread is kinda small (we rarely get 100 unique IDs in here), it's usually pretty comfy, as much as it is possible for a daily. Sure, there is a lot of funposting and offtopic, but I do feel some kind of "bro" atmosphere from here, and it's usually pretty fun to hang out here. And because of that I know that I will eventually return here, get inspired again and start learning Japanese yet again, even if I fail, so by that point me becoming fluent in Japanese is kinda inevitable; the only question is when (the sooner the better). It's especially valuable for me since nobody in my general surroundings learns Japanese, so it's my only chance of communicating with people who do it too.
Of course, it's not all butterflies and sunshine. About some things they are plain wrong (not much, though). Since it's a daily, funposting is ubiquitous and mods just gave up on coming there at all. So, you have to get used to the fact that it only very rarely stays on topic; but when it does, it's glorious.
And also, you don't learn Japanese in a thread, as I already mentioned. You learn it on your own. DJT is for exchanging resources, chatting with people when you're making a break or for discussing language learning methods, but you don't actually learn Japanese here. It's obvious, but it's important to remember that.
Also, huge parts of this post are probably muddled by "baby duck syndrome" - DJT was the first thread for which I started to love 4chan, so it's subjective as hell, and take everything I say with a grain of salt.

>> No.12935111

For me, though, it's one of the most interesting threads, and I genuinely feel it helped me a lot, even if I cannot prove that until I actually know the language fluently. Just would have to trust me on that one, I guess.
Or don't do it if you want. It's your choice.

Kotori's route is supposed to be vague compared to the other routes, but the only other route available in the beginning is Lucia's, and hers is a complete outlier in regards to content. "Kotori's route should be played first," is the general consensus, if you don't know what's going on, you're not supposed to. You'll figure it out later when you complete more routes.

If you're still using EDICT or whatever then it would probably be a good idea to hold off. You need to be able to appreciate good writing in Japanese and understand word choice/nuance etc to really get what why it's so highly praised. You probably won't pick up on much of that if you're looking up words and struggling with grammar every other line.

If you make even the tiniest grammar or vocabulary mistake it will also screw your understanding of the theme, so they're not necessarily mutually exclusive. You can't understand complex themes (or at least not understand them fully) in a language that you struggle with. It just doesn't work that way. If, say, a Japanese person who's been studying English for a year decided to pick up a philosophy textbook, they would also struggle to fully understand the themes. These themes are expressed in words and not images so you need to be able to understand the words first.

It works. Tiniest vocabulary/grammar mistakes would only cause tiniest themes mistakes, mainly when it's so overly repeated through the game, and when the arguably hard ones are not important at all.
Really, I would say the inverse. It's better reading it without being too confident in your Japanese, since you will at least pay more attention, the main cause so much people claims to not understand it.

Complex ideas can often be explained in relatively simple language. There are some philosophers who are known for more convoluted writing, even though their ideas are not considered necessarily more complex than philosophers who write more directly.

You don't really need one for amatsukaze as its more straightfoward with its routes. Just keep everyone around same affection points (~9 if I remember correctly, shouldn't be hard) till the route split and alter it by one point, the whole split happens prety late.

After over 100 hours of play time, I've completed baldr sky.
I'll start with overall impressions. It lived up to the hype, and is one of the best scifi/gameplay VNs I've played.
While some of the routes weren't as good as some in Force(Tsukina, Liang and Bachelor), the true end route was a lot better. The one thing Dive didn't get better than Force was the asshole character. While Genha is one of my favorite villains, and has a great reason for being how he is, Gilbert is pretty cliche.
The gameplay got a lot better, and playing close-combat feels a lot more dynamic than the shoot-and-run I had used for Force. I kinda feel the weapons progressed too fast, I had unlocked every close-combat one at the start of Makoto's route.
The heroine cast was great, and I managed to like all of them, although Aki and Nanoha felt a little overshadowed by the rest(specially Nanoha). The visuals take a little getting used to since they're so different from your average VN, but they didn't bother me anymore by the middle of Rain's route.

If you're even a little bit interested in virtual reality settings I'd recommend you read it. I usually dislike gameplay VNs and end up skipping battles/using lowest difficulty, but the Baldr gameplay is really good, and playing it doesn't feel like a chore at all.

joking aside, I sort of think it was deliberately obvious to make you look forward to the time where the realization would happen. I think he was still a pretty cool guy but from what I've heard he's just a worse Genha.
>The gameplay got a lot better, and playing close-combat feels a lot more dynamic than the shoot-and-run I had used for Force. I kinda feel the weapons progressed too fast, I had unlocked every close-combat one at the start of Makoto's route.
Reading this makes me regret a bit for Playing Dive before Force, since it's also a classic. Hopefully it will be worth it.
> although Aki and Nanoha felt a little overshadowed by the rest(specially Nanoha).
Really? Aki was my second favorite character, with plenty of characterization, and an adorable personality. She may have not had a unique mecha but all the hacking moments she've had, her background, and the last parts of her route really managed to make me like her more than most of the other heroines (only behind Sora). I felt more like Chinatsu lacked character focus later on, and well, I can pretty much say I hated her, except for the true route where she becomes less insuferable.

I didn't mean overshadowed in the "worse" sense, I meant that they don't appear as much. I should've worded that better.
Chinatsu was my least favorite heroine too(doesn't mean I disliked her), and they mentioned her everywhere.

And yeah, Gilbert really felt like a scaled down Genha, at the same time Boeing less of an asshole and having less of a reason to be one. Your should really play force, while the start isn't that good, the middle of the game is exceptional, and the gameplay isn't that much worse.

No surprises that a VenusBlood and Rance title (#4-5) scored so high. Nor for Tsuriotsu 2, Byakko, and Hikoukigumo (#1-3) since they were basically the three highest rated popular moege on EGS. #6-11 seems to have the rest of the notable scenarioge/moege, below that it's stuff I would have been surprised to see rank high. if you liked the characters, then enjoy the game and relax with moes

which for me, at least in eroge, the story is the last thing I care about, its nothing but part of the stage
I just focus on the characters and the protagonist

I can just read a book if I wanted a good story

Personally I (>>12948923) didn't imply story. Prologue had actually funny jokes which made me laugh like mad, and situations and interaction overall was much better.

Moreover, I'd say that their attempt at having story in heroine routes actually made game even worse, what moron decided that you should play cliches straight when you set up something as parody first? If they would just ichaicha all day long w/out whole death drama, I would rate it better.

It's not bad. I appreciated how the writer didn't shy away from doing "unconventional" things for a moege, and he actually put some effort into the themes and such. On the other hand, the art is utter shit, and it's buggy and full of typos. There are some kind of dumb things in it, like the fact that contrails don't work how the writer thinks they do. Overall, though, I don't regret reading it.

Anyways, the reason I came to this thread (and /jp/ in the first place) is because i'm looking for a good eroge VN with a good Yandere experience. There is no need for that. This thread is for both translated and untranslated VN. Please read the damn board rules.

I don't see how board rules would forbid separate "untranslated vns only" thread. It doesn't say that translated vns should be acceptable subject in EVERY thread.

You are talking with retarded jannie, who thinks that he is the one making rules on /jp/:

#janiteam/#janiteam_20140911.log:[10:37:22] <TheBurnWard> KusKus please ban the living fuck out of the guy I just put a spamming BR on, i'm sick of this guy trying to direct visual novel discussion out of /jp/
#janiteam/#janiteam_20140911.log:[10:37:41] <TheBurnWard> Because he obviously doesn't know the fucking rules.
#janiteam/#janiteam_20140911.log:[10:38:27] <TheBurnWard> Japanese visual novels go in /jp/, original english visual novels go in /vg/. Translated ones can go in either.
#janiteam/#janiteam_20140911.log:[10:38:35] <KusKus> TheBurnWard
#janiteam/#janiteam_20140911.log:[10:38:40] <TheBurnWard> This dude is trying to redirect translated visual novels to /vg/ and he can suck all the cocks.
#janiteam/#janiteam_20140911.log:[10:38:45] <TheBurnWard> Sure
#janiteam/#janiteam_20140911.log:[10:39:07] <TheBurnWard> I used reposting/spamming because this is a constant thing.
#janiteam/#janiteam_20140911.log:[10:40:08] <KusKus> I gave him a week TheBurnWard

Don't expect jannies to understand rules, they wouldn't be jannies if they could.

So I bought きみはね ~彼女と彼女の恋する1ヶ月~ and it's asking me to install a runtime program as well. Bollocks to that.

http://www.soft-denchi.jp/comdocs/dlguide/index.htm

I'm assuming there are workarounds given that this has been used before?

>> No.12956389

>>12956381
Soft-Denchi is stuff that used as DRM for most of modern VNs, especially with digital downloads. Just take the bullet and install it, there's no common tools to bypass it.

A digital edition? Isn't that the DRM thing used with it?

Maybe you should wait for a crack.

If you don't want some DRM shit in your PC, then maybe try running it in a VM? Although it might not work, some DRM is sketchy like that.

2djgame's crack for Hello Lady fandisc (DL version) bypasses it and it's very simple from what I've seen. The executable is encrypted, but you can decrypt it even if you don't have the license. It would probably be pretty easy to make it work with this game as well (don't ask me because I don't know how).

I thought janitors could only delete posts and did not have the power to ban people. Regardless, I find it silly that mods/janitors on /jp/ can't even read japanese.
