When I was 15 I was really into Japanese music but I lost my memory of the bands I used to listen to and want to get back into it again. Recommendations? Anything's welcome.

You should also try out various Alstroemeria, Eastnewsound, Yuuhei Satellite and Amateras records songs. Naturally some are really good and some are subpar. For vocaloid music Nekobolo, UtsuP, Hachi, GigaP, MuryokuP, niki, and Yuyoyuppe are all really good people to look out for.

You should listen exclusively to IOSYS. You should always remove your pants and put the volume to the loudest every time you listen to their classics in order to fully enjoy the experience. Just let yourself be led by their thought provoking lyrics and universal melodies. If others with inferior taste approach you when you're having a IOSYS listening session and tell you to either lower the volume or listen to something else, always remember to scream the lyrics of the song as loud as possible so that you may assert dominance.

Oh good, maybe I can find a band that has been long dead. I've been searching for a few years now

They were a Japanese band who had a myspace page (I know that doesn't reduce the numbers very much) but they did a combination of female Soprano singing and metal music.

Some of their tracks were just instrumental but had a weird ethereal vibe to them.

One music video of theirs starts in a silent room then someone drops a pot or some shit then this insane piano music hits in with some bloke screaming his guts out

it's okay if you don't know

>Even worse than modern EDM and brostep/brosteppish electrohouse?
Short answer:
Yes.

Long Answer:
I'm not really into EDMshit, but what I've heard is pretty damn bad, but still not as bad as gabber.
I genuinely miss the early days of Brostep, it was back when mainstream EDMshit wasn't completely hopeless yet.
Those two brostep tunes are pretty damn good despite being what they are:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOofWzI3flA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WtMlB-BEMso
For reference Rusko is pretty much the guy who invented the thing.

Gabber in general has this issue that, despite being fast and loud and BRVTAL, it's still plain as fuck and you just can't take more than half an hour of it at a time, at least without having that distorted kick mash your brain out.

Happy Hardcore is way too upbeat and bright and I feel like it has no place in a club setting. Like Gabber it also is way too fast to avoid relying on breakbeats.

Jungle is objectively the best genre of club music.

>> No.12953437

>>12953403
I can see your critique of traditional gabber, but

>Happy Hardcore is way too upbeat and bright and I feel like it has no place in a club setting.
It depends; I've seen happy hardcore or UK hardcore blend pretty well when people just want to have crazy fun, instead of a typical relaxed dance environment.

I couldn't see myself dropping happy hardcore, let alone playing an entire set of it in all that many situations.
Maybe that's because my club background is mostly slower (< 140 BPM) German and French techno/house, which already gets pretty close to the "distorted kick mashing out your brain" thing, UK Dubstep/UK Garbage, DnB, Jungle and Breakcore.

All of which are somewhat on the darker more oppressive side of Dance Music rather than all this hyperactive happy feel good shit.

Breakcore in particular manages to be crazy fun and I feel like I get way too few breakcore nights in town these days. I really should try to contact those guys organizing them so I can play at the next one.
I always wanted to drop lolishit.

B'z

With total sales of over 78 million units, the Japanese considered them as rock gods.
The duo went from 80s disco, to blues, to western hard rock, and adopting a fusion of hard rock and Japanese pop-rock now.
Whatever singles and albums they produced have always hit no.1 in Oricon weekly chart since 1990.
They have a HUGE discography consisting of 51 singles and 20 albums.

Also, motherfucking Aerosmith wanted a collab with B'z as their requirement for performing at WC 2002.

Let me guess, you would also say Southern All Stars, L'arc, Ayumi, and Mr. Children, to also be bland.

>Let me guess, you would also say Southern All Stars, L'arc, Ayumi, and Mr. Children, to also be bland.
I would, yes.
I'd also call them shitty, but that's not important.

>Give examples on your non bland music taste.
Check out World's End Girlfriend, Boris, Kengo Iuchi, Fishmans, DJ Krush, Ghost, Number Girl, Shizuka, that sorta thing.
Almost all of those are real entry level too, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding their tunes or albums either.

You recognized one band out of 8 music projects, I'm impressed.

>you're one to tell others off about their taste
Sorry, I limited myself to the most entry level artists output of a single country which really doesn't produce much of worth.

Besides, all of those are better than radio pop rock garbage, you're only listening to because they're Japanese. Honestly.

Very raw and powerful for what was ostensibly a group sounds band, they kinda pioneered the noisy psych rock and punk trends of the next two decades.

>> No.13002997

>>13002779
Now that I see your reply, I found your use of the word "bland" confuses me.

The rock bands that you picked displayed distortions that are similar to western alt rock bands and a strange lack of melody unlike Japanese rock. I researched Ghost since it's visual kei in nature, but they too, lacked melody unlike the standard Japanese visual kei.
It's like you're listening to western music, but chose these bands just because they're speaking in Japanese.

It's completely your choice to limit what you want to hear, but I hope you did that because you don't have time / too busy with life, instead of shutting yourself and playing the hipster, shunning mainstream music for reasons unspecified.

>If you wanted to really style on him you should've name dropped some late 60s/early 70s avant and free jazz dudes
It's called entry-level.
I used these because I want him to actually find and figure out what they're about instead of dropping obscure and actually somewhat mediocre shit like Haniwa-Chan and Morita.
Besides, I'm not that big on nipshit.
