Actually they kind of did. The game's combat system is kind of similar to Mabinogi's, and the way you learn and develop skills is almost the same way. But a bigger emphasis is placed on monster collecting and fusing since your character is useless on their own.

/v/ did have a guild in the Japanese version of MegaTen online for a while, but I don't think any of them are playing anymore...

There are several members from the /jp/ Mabinogi guild that are definitely interested in checking it out though, whenever the english version gets released.
