It's hard to draw with ketchup.
I followed the guide on the /ck/ booru and I didn't realize that it would turn out to be an egg burrito.

Cheese is an incredibly white thing to do. You don't find cheese that often in Japanese omrice, and if you do, it is usually something really mild.

I always do mine the tampopo way, make a football shaped omelet that simply covers the top. If your omelet isn't forming curves, then you're probably overcooking it.

There are plenty of "authentic" omurice recipes that include cheese, and it's not uncommon to see cheese omurice in restaurants in Japan. Just like cheese curry is quite common.

>> No.12901349

>>12901332
>There are plenty of "authentic" omurice recipes that include cheese
Clear tiny minority, it's not the standard thing to do, as the infographic implies. It's a completely optional, and uncommon addition, just like various other takes on it.

>it's not uncommon to see cheese omurice in restaurants in Japan.
That's because an omurice restaurant have 10+ varieties of omurice, of which at least half of them aren't normal. Cheese isn't something you'd likely find at a family restaurant omurice.

>Just like cheese curry is quite common.
No, it really isn't. I'm pretty sure at least 99.9% of all curry sold in Japan has no cheese in it, and at 99% of establishments that serve curry, cheese isn't even an option.

If you were writing up the standard way to make curry, you wouldn't say throw cheese on top of it.

>>12901326
Because western omelets often have cheese.

>No, it really isn't. I'm pretty sure at least 99.9% of all curry sold in Japan has no cheese in it, and at 99% of establishments that serve curry, cheese isn't even an option.
This is completely untrue. It's a totally common topping. There's even a popular food called curry doria that is oven-baked curry and rice with cheese on top.

>> No.12901358

Here, I'll make one exception, which is hayashi omurice, but that has more to do with putting cheese in the hayashi sauce than anything else.

Which makes up less than 0.1% of curry sold, because you lack an understanding of just how ubiquitous plain curry is in Japan. Sampling dishes from a curry shop, cheese is found on only a few items and the vast majority of sales would be things without cheese, and you would be seriously delusional if you thought cheese curry even came close to curry noodle soups as far as curry derivatives go.

Just because you can find gefiltefish in 99% of supermarkets doesn't mean that it isn't the case that 99% of people don't normally eat gefiltefish.

You actually see quite a few people purchasing cheese curry or adding cheese to their curry as a topping. It's way more popular than you're making it out to be.

>You actually see quite a few people purchasing cheese curry or adding cheese to their curry as a topping. It's way more popular than you're making it out to be.
Cheese curry sales at a curry specializing restaurant is less than 1 in 10. Then you have to include all the places that offer curry as a side dish, or just one of many options, grocery stores, etc. Cheese curry consumption is nowhere as high as you imply it to be.

And if you're going to bring in curry doriya as a curry dish, I'm going to confidently say, curry soup or curry as a topping far outnumbers the amount of curry doriya sold.

And in the end, it doesn't really matter. Cheese on omurice or curry is not the normal definitive way to do it. It's an optional topping that is clearly in the minority.

>> No.12901388

Well I've seen and heard plenty of folks ordering cheese curries, cheese as a topping on their curries, and cheese omurices so I don't know what to tell you. It's definitely more common than you seem to believe, more then 1 in 10 as you say.

Then that's because you live near a trendy curry shop known for cheese on curry. It is definitely less than 1 in 10, for the curry shops I have gone to.The vast majority are curry rice or curry katsu with several other dishes coming to mind before anything cheese curry, without any cheese. It's definitely not more than 1 in 10, 1 in 10 is being generous.

That or you're talking about Indian curries with paneer.

2 Eggs is not enough, You will have to cook all other ingredients first than add the rice and ketchup. I use 3 eggs in mine and cook it so it is almost cooked and put the omelet on top of the rice. Than use a knife to make a line in the middle if the omelet so it opens up to cover the rice. Cheese not necessary.
