That's something good to start with. my top 6 favorite DD's (Satsuki sisters + Samidare/Suzukaze) are all above 90s well that left Sazanami alone as starters to chase another 10lvl to 80.. the Fubukis are at 65-90s and somehow I got the feeling I need to do Miyuki.

Aoba on the other hands.. CAs are quite a pain to level, I'll wait a bit till I see their stats.

Adding 1 more CVL (I run 2 usually) while grinding 3-2-A doesn't seem to be killing more things on the opening air strike, is it supposed to be this way?
For the record my carriers usually kill 2-3, 4 is a rarity which leaves the enemy elite flagship unscathed (BB will target remaining DD) and ready to rape my sub.

It's one of my favourite maps, and I always seem to be short on furniture coins anyway.

Starting with 245+ fighter power gave me air supremacy for every node every time, but that was before the update to air combat; I think the requirement has dropped a bit after the update.

Also forgot a few things.

1. 3+ radars. Maelstroms ahoy. In other words, default setup for CAs should be 2 red 1 recon 1 radar. Personally I use type 14s, although type 32s or Prinz Eugen's radar could work. Type 21s a shit, but you can use them if you don't have other usable radars.
2. You can probably substitute up to 1 CA for 1 CLT. Although I haven't tried it yet, it should theoretically work.
3. You can use CAVs here; in fact, if you equip seaplane bombers with AA stat (all except prototype seiran), it'll cut a few points off the fighter power requirement. Could come in handy when you want to maximise efficiency.
4. Saiun is optional.

AA radar won't contribute to your fighter power. It only shoots down enemy planes after the fighter phase ends.

As a rule of thumb, equipping Reppuu in 5 of the ~20 plane slots is enough, though the actual optimal setup varies from case to case.

A few more things.

5. You can go with up to 1 unremodelled CA, equipping 2 red + 1 recon. The caveat is that you cannot go with a CLT, the unremodelled CA must have max firepower and armour (and preferably torp stat too), and she must be the flagship. A CL with 3 slots and can hold at least one plane works just as well as an unremodelled CA.
6. You can also go with up to 1 unremodelled CV, but unless she's Taihou she should be in the flagship spot. In addition, it is preferable for Kaga to be one of the two CVs, remodelled or not. As you can see, it's not a good idea to go with 2 unremodelled ships with 4 CA 2 CV unless they're CA + Taihou.
7. Some (but not all) of these rules can be relaxed slightly if you replace one of the CAs with a BB, also with 2 red 1 recon 1 radar.

Just make sure to get 245 fighter power or something. Actual number of Reppuu you equip doesn't matter as long as you reach the fighter power requirement.

I won't go with Kaga and Akagi that's for sure since both are maxed, that leaves the Dragons, Cranes and Unryuu.
Probably pairing Unryuu with any of the remaining CVs to save cost or is that a bad idea?

I have Reppuu kai, about 20+ Reppus and the new Repu 601.. should be more than enough right?
Level wise, I already had all ships on their Kai and Kai2.

More than enough. You can go with any 2 CVs, though I'd suggest with the lowest level ones. For example, Unryuu + a crane can go Ryuusei Kai/Reppuu/Reppuu Kai/Saiun and Tenzan Tomonaga/Reppuu 601/Reppuu/Reppuu respectively for a total of 246 fighter power, which is more than enough for 3-3.

You don't have fire directors? That said, I don't really think you need to worry that much about the aerial phase.

On another note, I can't really trust 2 CV 1 CVL because the 1 CVL will be my weak link. I cleared 5-5 with fast fleet last month (3 BB 3 CV) and am intending to do so again this month. But well, that's just me.

So does the 'story' in this franchise comes from reading the in-game lines and ship description, while fans deploying their imagination (similar to Touhou, I guess?) or any other official works?
Admittedly I haven't invested massive amount of time in the game, but the story seems thin. Am I supposed to grind this hardcore?

Both actually. Official works exist, but they don't share the same storyline.
Consider both aspects as contributions to the franchise as a whole.

It is pretty bad yes. You will probably want 2-3 kai and a bunch non kai for rotation. Though lower in success rate than 5-4 with a surface fleet, it still uses a lot less buckets which is the primary concern at that point. You can also try 4-2 subs, or if you want to baby mode you can 2-3 subs during downtime, but you will have to deal with dead ends in both of those.

So I just picked my starter ship and suddenly an error. Restarted and when I clicked game start it loads for a bit and shows an error. Does anybody have other solutions regarding the cat error after clicking game start? I followed what the wiki says but it still gives me the same error
