I just like it when characters are together because of personality, shared interests, etc. I don't like it when characters with hundreds of years age difference between them are together romantically, especially if it was because of some meta reason like "they are both stage X bosses" . Friendships are the best.

That's why I found Mystia + Kyouko being friends so charming. Buddies not because of their position in a video game, but because they share genuine interests with each other. Seeing Kyouko helping out at the lamprey stand in the manga was great.

The worst is Koishi x Kokoro non-platonic shipping. They are the antithesis of each other, one of them has a single-digit amount of life experience while the other is barely functioning mentally. The Reimu/Marisa/Alice/Patchouli love triangle thing has also ruined a lot of otherwise interesting works.

Miko + Byakuren being Kokoros' ''Parents'' would feel like a heartwarming end to the whole religious war though. Having to set aside their differences for a while to guide her would be nice.

Are you me? I prefer platonic pairings between the female characters, but any of the generic romantic pairings like that Reimu/Marisa/Alice/Patchouli you mentioned have made it almost impossible for me to look at any pictures of them together and take it seriously. Another example would be that any work that might have an interesting Sakuya is ruined because the artist wants to force a Meiling or Remilia ship with her. It's so stupid when it's not even needed. like holy shit why.
