Whether or not we could win against China depends on one's definition of "win." There is NO way we could conduct a successful invasion of China, on the other hand, China's military is constructed with defense in mind, and they don't have the naval strength to even attempt an invasion of us. As a result, it would mostly be about who could impose more damage on the enemy's economy, more than anything else.

The situation with Russia is similar.

It's hard to see an outright winner in either event.

However, were the conflict to occur on neutral ground, it's hard to know exactly who would come out on top. The U.S. has the technological edge, to be sure, but I'm not sure that's enough against disciplined foes with a manpower advantage.

Japan was in the Allied side in the Great War (WW1), Japan was NOT present in the Korean Conflict outside the "support", they fielded no troops (because they had none, the JSDF was established in 1954 and was because US deployed the troops stationed in Japan to Korea. for the Korean War).
