Same here, I'm at around 3700 images, pretty much all handpicked and tagged by name and a few other things, mostly from the boorus. Also, I try not to save very lewd images, because I prefer looking at cute things instead.

Every couple of months I back it up.

Just shy of 30k. Doesn't count doujins, though some of them came from doujins, or edits. All of them hand-picked since 2006, very few lewds, no porn. I used to go on danbooru every day and get the pics I liked, mostly 2hu stuff. Haven't done that in almost a year though, and have saved very few since then.

I would just download whatever you like from the boorus every couple days or so. Also, whenever I encounter an image I like on /jp/, I iqdb it and look for other good stuff by that artist, then tag it in my folder. It's not really much work once you get started.
