1271762 No.1271762 [Reply] [Original]

All veteran members of the council of the four leafs assemble within this thread. We shall discuss the past, present, and future of 4chan. First topic:

Are oldfags, mods, and janitors getting tired of 4chan?

No, 4chan is not something I could become bored with since it is the method of anonymous discussion with soft touch moderation that I like. I have been around since about 500k on /b/. Also sage.

The ratio of oldfags to newfags is decreasing. Oldfags are reading less and posting less every day. And this decrease has nothing to do with the increase of newfags. Oldfags are just getting tired of the chan culture in general.

/jp/ was nothing more than a temporary stimulus board to keep the oldfags from leaving. But even /jp/ wont be enough to save 4chan.

Note: When I say 4chan dying. I'm not talking about 4chan getting shutdown. Obviously that will never happen. I'm talking about 4chan becoming something completely different from its originally state. Because moot is getting tired of 4chan he's going to sell it to Rupert Murdoch. Rupert is going to sell it to google. And google is going to turn 4chan into a family photo website where you exchange pictures of your family and friends. "4friends -- 4family -- 4chan!"

But then again, 4chan's legacy will not be completely forgotten, even when other spin-off imageboard sites won't be able to reach the same level of popularity as 4chan has hone.

>> No.1271865

I don't think so, at least in the outer boards. I'm guessing most anonymous gave up on /b/ ages ago, which I hope explains the current status over there.

I guess that time will come eventually, just getting tired of doing the same everyday, and most people will move towards better things. But for now, instead of focusing on times long gone, we should just try to enjoy how things are, and not whine about the boards.
Any of them.

>> No.1271878

Good luck with that, >>1271762.

The mass people (normalfags, women, camwhores, narutards, etc) are going to find it/have found it(4chan) and proceed to shit and/or menstruate all over it until it drowns in a sea of bloody diarrhea. At this point everybody else shows up and continuously gangbangs the shit covered corpse for as long as it stays online. I'm pretty sure this is a law of internet sociology or something.

The real issue is with the English-speaking internet in general. It's been compromised. Best to burn everything and start over.

Most people that come here today doesn't share our lifestyle.

What this all really means, though, is that you, >>1271762 , should just stick with today's special.

Old fag here. Yeah, most of us are just... gone.
Foone, Quote, unnes, Bat Guano, swg, and quite a few others just... are gone.
Foone doesn't have time to sit around in /r/. Quote is too busy with i-am-boss, unnes is off drinking, Bat Guano no longer is hanging around in /ck/, swg just is fapping all day to his massive collection of anonymous gathered doujins. Lots of the fags of #/a/ are still in /a/.. being fags. But they are just worthless without direction.
Back before grey day, before grin man, before every other post was "fucking newfags"...
I miss the days that weren't centered around trying to prove you were tough shit on 4chan. Where anonymity meant something.
... Basically Europeans ruined 4chan. I think it was russia with their shitty spam bots in /a/ and /c/. I wish Europe would just stop trying to prove something like... "Americans are fat, Europe is awesome".
/jp/ seems fine though. The people here are mostly not trying to prove they are european. Just a few fags thinking stating they are from europe makes their posts worth something.

Moot needs to do something dramatic to rejuvenate 4chan.

There should be chan Holidays. For example, a b& holiday where the mods randomly ban people. Or a textboard holiday where moot disables image replies.

Hard to take that even remotely seriously from someone who just spouted off about tripfaggotry and irc faggotry.

Nope, would make no difference apart from an interesting diversion. Anonymous to tripfag ratio is crushingly in favor of anonymous. As such enabling forced_anon on all boards permanently would make no difference.

I'm not talking about newfags, cancer, or the lack-of-original content. I'm just talking about oldfags getting tired of 4chan in general (regardless of 4chan's quality).

The underlying issue here is that a disproportionate amount of european users graduate to tripfaggotry and trolling. Like, Norwaty for instance has given us some of the worst posters, ever. Still, the fringe boards tend to last a while longer, but as with everything the years pass, you lose interest and move on. It's what keeps our culture dynamic, and in a way, caused the death of the old 4chan we knew and loved. Time marches on.
