I had my troubles with hard to clean onaholes in the past.

Airing it out is the safest but sometimes isn't enough and will still develop a smell. Wrap it in a breathable bag and toss it in container with rice. I imagine mini humidifier/ moisture absorber (silica gels) is better but I haven't tried it yet.

Soap will definitely degrade it a little bit especially if you didn't rinse properly.

Question about powdering your hole.

The pastebin says to use cornstarch to powder the OUTSIDE of the hole to prevent stickiness, and that it's not necessary to powder the inside. Well...

I've been powdering the inside because I think it will help absorb any moisture leftover from the drying process (been using a microfibre cloth to thoroughly dry it off like it says in the pastebin). However I'm wondering if all that extra organic matter inside the hole might actually help fungus growth.

It sounds to me like powdering the inside is just leaving more food behind. Additionally, that water absorbed doesn't just goes away, it's absorbed by the cornstarch, which fungi can eat. I think you should just be storing your holes in a bag with rice or another desiccant instead if you want extra protection.
