The Len'en Project - made by the same person who did the PC98 remakes which were never actually released to the public (JynX), a series of shoot-em-ups obviously inspired by Touhou. The first game acts as a prologue to the second and third.

Not quite.
Yaorochi and Sukune's theme have no parts of their old themes in their new one.
Neither does Yabusame and Tsubakura's.
Kuroji and Saragimaru's theme is just a remix of Kuroji's old theme.

Jar becomes a timer. You can't lose at this point, so just get points. After all the jar points are over, the battle ends and cancels the current spell. Everytime you die or end a spell, you lose jar points, that's it.

Has JynX released the music he used in the PC98 videos? I once read on YouTube that he might do it, and as there are other PC98 arrangements out there (think on Bad Apple) I don't see a problem.
Does anyone know what became of that?

I never had the impression those were complete remakes. Rather it appeared to me that individual stages were done and then a script was run. I always believed it was some kind of show, not a complete game everyone can run.

The games are harder that they're meant to be, i'm pretty sure. The last boss of the 2nd game has some spells that are pretty hard regardless of dificulty, not to mention the extra stage.

They are more or less manageable at this point. The demos of first two games (which he, unfortunately, deleted; I'd like to get them again but can't find anywhere at this point, I didn't expect deletion) were even more ridiculous. Full versions got difficulty reduction.

Hello boy, if people copy and adapt the work of someone else, it means it is good. That is how every kind of culture came into being in the first place.
And how do you know it was done "with ease"? Have you looked him over the shoulder? And why do you call JynX a "random person"? You can freely show that your view is true by doing your own game in the same way as JynX.
You just envy ZUN for the attention and praise he gets, and you have a cheap way of dealing with it.

First of all, ZUN did not in anyway innovate the danmaku genre. His games are basically replicas of the shoot em up games he worked on at Taito with badly drawn cartoon sprites. In other words his coworkers taught him how to build an STG engine and he used his knowledge to create Touhou. His only unique contribution to the genre back in the PC98 days was cartoon girl sprites.

Lastly, you don't not know anything about me so I think you should keep your mouth shut. I've created STG games that make Touhou seem like a dinosaur. I'm not going to share it because I do not want my negative comment associated with said game, but if you search the archive you'll find it.

I really like Len'en of the games and just finished the third one yesterday.
Personally I think I still prefer the second game, it has some very interesting and creative spellcards.
Even if those games are based on touhou, I think the second and third are better than the lastest games of ZUN, they have more creative and interesting spellcards and systems.
The soundtrack Touhou 14 was very disappointing, but I think the soundtrack Len'en 2 was very superior, for example.
