Honestly, I like the PS2 sprites the best. I had a hard time taking the story seriously with the original sprites, and I feel like the new sprites are too generic.

Original art is their true form.
Alchemist's art at least has anime behind it.
Newer art just screams "this is totally not an eroge!" to me because MG is too poor for Alchemist and can't afford R07's style.

Coming from anime myself, I prefer anime/PS2 art because that's the first thing I have in mind when I hear "Higurashi". I couldn't even 'connect' to original art when I read the VN because I had been spoiled by the anime already.
