Yes, however, the True End isn't that great either. It seemed as if Clannad's developing team simply decided they wanted a happy ending but, didn't know how to develop it properly.

Tomoya's hardships were simply reduced to nothing by that. He grew a lot after Nagisa died, and just because they wanted to make a stupid end where Ushio and Tomoya died, and another one where Nagisa didn't die; they practically wasted it.

I think a good end was needed but, Clannad's end wasn't developed properly, in my opinion.
