Are there any Touhou artists who draw their art in pencil/other physical means, then transfer to computer and touch up and color there, or are they all masters of tablet drawing?

You mean like this?

No, I mean, are there any good artists who simply aren't so great at drawing on a tablet/fiddling around with brush settings so just fuck it and sketch their art in pencil, scan it, then use photoshop or whatnot to color it in.

I ask, because most of the good art I see is, like your example, clearly done in pencil, or else is clearly done only on tablet (i.e. the MS paint pics or other random touhou pics) and it's making me depressed because I can't draw for shit with a tablet.

why does it matter? the end result is ultimately the same

Because I can't drawfag on demand if I have to sketch it in pencil then scan it like a loser.

I wish I had the skills to just draw acceptable artwork straight from the tablet. Either I need practice, I need to set my brushes correctly, or I need a better tablet.

You're acting like everyone has to produce art the same way or something. Just do whatever works best for you.

And plenty of artists draw their art on paper, scan it in, and then digitally color.

Probably the practice thing. Go hit up isohunt for some new software too; that couldn't hurt.

Yeah, half the reason I ask was because I want to confirm that I'm not a failure of an artist for not being able to draw as well on a tablet as I do in pencil. I suspected that a lot of good artists do this anyway just by looking at their work, but I wanted to confirm it.

The other half is because there seem to be a lot of people here that can simply pick up a tablet and quickly draw a decent piece as well, which I can't seem to do 75% of the time.

Sorry for making such a shitty thread.

I got the newest photoshop suite off there, actually. Though the closest thing I came to drawing on a tablet that wasn't a piece of eye-rape was actually on openCanvas with brush sensitivity turned off. Maybe I'll get that again.
