Man. I've never understood the hype for Party Maker. It's practically an instrumental. Edge spoiled me too much I guess even though its almost as much of an instrumental as Party Maker.

Am I the only one who doesn't like how Level3 was designed specifically for the level3 tour? It's a better album than JPN imo but it just isn't as good as GAME or Triangle.

My expectations were pretty high thinking they were going to do some big event on Perfume's history, and maybe even a song or two. When I read in the comments that the stream was after their last Gurungurun concert of the tour, I knew I was in for tears and something extremely abrupt.
At least got to hear Nocchi's voice quivering which is the closest we'll get out of her crying.
Still pissed at myself for having such high expectations.

First Perfume concert for me but it was amazing. Seeing the stage being converted from a shanty looking setup to a technoshow blows my mind. The sounds were amazing. it's not terribly difficult, context, facial expressions, and hand gestures help a lot when communicating
it also helps to sound out english words in japanese syllables

they are idiots. nakata can be lazy or he can be overly experimental with his music. the large majority of his songs are actually pretty acquired taste. even some perfume songs. its understandable that the music he makes for perfume will be more pop-ish but he goes full gangnam style with kyary and makes every song

simple repetitive chorus > verse 1 > simple repetitive chorus > verse 2 > simple repetitive chorus > finish

the music works for what its meant for but is the most shallow type of music out there. I'm seriously not a music snob but it makes me cringe that this is the type of music people listen to solely

Nakata has always pushed out tons of songs. Capsule had like 7 albums in their first 4 years. There's a lot of people who haven't taken him seriously since because of the way he just seems to knock songs out. Also the way Capsule was marketed early on as "neo-shibuya kei". Awful.

I know I remember reading somewhere that a-chan fucking hated Triangle because of the robot vocals but I loved it. It was the first album I had ever heard of theirs and the whole concept felt very chic/a throwback to the 80s and then GAME sealed my love for them.

I still recommend Triangle to first time listeners and then GAME because Triangle just has such a good opening track list imo with Love the World/Dream Fighter/Edge/Night Flight. When you listen to them back to back it just feels great.

Sweet Refrain just felt incredibly forgettable and soulless like it was done as a tiein for a drama (surprise surprise it was!) it would've been fine actually as the ending track to Level3 but as a standalone single it just feels incredibly weak. The B-side was cute and reminded me of their triangle days.

I'm surprised you ranked Fushizen na Girl up there since it's one of my favorites as well. In my top 5 even.

For me: Love the World, Foundation, Polyrhythm, Fushizen na Girl, Spice or The Best Thing.

I love Kyary and I love Perfume, they're both great. Yeah, there are some shit Kyary fans, there's also some shit Perfume fans, some shit Anime fans, and some shit weeaboos. You can't magically get away from shit fans, and they're usually only a vocal minority, not a majority like they think. I went to the Kyary concert in Seattle and there were a bunch of douchey fans but I also met some really cool guys who knew quite a bit about j-pop/rock/etc which I've never came across before IRL.

We see a highlight reel of moments of there lives. Carefully selected by a marketing executive. With a bachelors degree in 'fuckn social manipulation' or 'swoteva'.

I think we get a glimpse into that world with nocchi's vacant stares and disapproving glances.
Yet even that could be perceived as simply just another posture in an attempt to throw off the idol tag. We may never know. Image is important to marketing.
I remember in a previous thread an anon who had seen them perform in a small venue, had the best description of how I imagine them irl.
And that was simply just a nerdy yet extremely dedicated dance troop who loved what they did & there fans.
