1237406 No.1237406 [Reply] [Original]

hello /jap/,

i respectfully request your assistance with a question, please, as /r9k/ is not being much help at all.

would you consider the various boards of 4chan, or indeed 4chan itself, a doujin?

i realize i shouldn't come here with retarded questions and forgive me if it is but i was just wondering because it seems like it is according to what i've read but then perhaps i've completely misunderstood.

your assistance is gratefully appreciated.

in return, an image that while probably not to your usual tastes as i am sadly not au fait with them, i nonetheless hope you find as cool as i do.

pardon

...What?

>> No.1237414

The word "doujin" has strong connotations that make the comparison invalid.

Things get even worse when you start talking about 4chan as a whole.

No.

4chan a "doujin" of what? Futaba? If that's the case, might as well state that 4chan is like Megatokyo.

Why does everyone from /r9k/ talk like this? Why can't gramatically correct and properly spelled posts prove that you are A SMART PERSON ON INTERNET.

People with girlfriends don't need to capitalize their sentences. They're going to go clubbing, no time for proper sentences.

Seriously. Why would you use a thesaurus to write a post and not bother with capitalization?

op here. well i'm not sure. the wiki article (i know, wikipedia lol) says:

.... a term for a group of people or friends who share an interest, activity, hobbies, or achievement. The word is sometimes translated into English as clique, coterie, society, or circle....

and this is why i wondered it as i would personally think of 4chan collectively and of it's parts a clique or circle but then i know japanese culture and language is infinitely more complex than that so very likely not. i think it's a very attractive word and concept anyway.

I have a lunch box would you consider that or indeed all lunch boxes... a bento?

Seriously it's been months since I last visited this place and this is the first thing I see great job on continuing to get worse.

>> No.1237475

>>1237443
Alright, I'll try to answer. 4chan itself would not be considered a "clique" (if that's the translation you're going for), considering most people from board "x" hate people from board "y". Like on /jp/, we hate every other board except /tg/.

Also, despite the fact that 4chan was originally a website for weeaboos, 90% of the boards are now completely unrelated to Japanese culture. There's nothing that links boards together anymore, except that we're on the same website.

>>1237441
...Or grammar, for that matter.

From your wikipedia article
>In Japan the term is used to refer to amateur self-published works, including but not limited to manga, novels, fan guides, art collections, music and video games. Some professional artists participate as a way to publish material outside the regular publishing industry.

Seriously. I don't have a goddamn clue what you're asking, are you trying to pretend to know weeaboo words and ask if 4chan is group?

Might as well ask if 4chan is a "posse", or something equally ancient.

>> No.1237482

When people in the west say doujin they're talking about doujinshi. Instead, circle or doujin group is used.

No, of course not. I don't know anything which is why I'm asking. I did read the whole article but it was the first part of the definition that interested me.

>>1237475
Okay, thank you. So, if it were not a case of the boards hating each other, then could the term apply? Could it apply within /jp/ itself perhaps?

>>1237464
Again, I'm so sorry. I should have clearly lurked alot more before asking this.

But no one will know what the hell you're talking about.
