Blazblue is the prettiest game Arcsys has made in terms of animations and character designs. Persona is great too. Other Arcsys games admittedly look like shit.

>> No.12346408

>>12346318
GG absolutely doesn't look like shit in any respect as of AC. The sprites are very cleaned up from earlier versions. Xrd is visually incredible and you're a contrarian lunatic if you think otherwise.
UNi doesn't look like shit either. The sprites are all really pretty, and most animations are fluid. There are obvious exceptions, like Carmine's win pose, but I'm pretty sure that's just supposed to be hilarious. The particles are all really nice, the only glaring ones are the shielding sparks being huge.
As a game, BB is way more restrictive than either GG or UNi while hardly being more balanced. The only characters that really have more than 2-3 things you have to "look out for" in a match are Litchi and Kokonoe, who are just incredibly good at everything. Everybody plays their characters the same way, gatling tables are extremely tied down unless you're Litchi, and the best use for meter 99% of the time is saving it for a guard cancel. The cast has a ton of variety, but the individual cast members have a pretty cut and dry gameplan and it ends up being extremely formulaic.
BBCP2.0 is looking to make it even worse as far as I can tell, even though it's just first loketest. Everybody but Izayoi and Hazama have been stripped down to a really barebones watered down version of their 1.1 selves.
Also guard cancel ODs are fuckin' stupid.

Visually though, BB is really nice, primarily due to particles. The sprites without particles covering up some of them tend to look pretty bad. The backgrounds look great. I miss CS Bang's stage though. That shit was fucking bootyful.
CP remixes for the OST are buttcheeks and it loses to both other games in that department. The new non-remixed songs are great though.

I'm a big fan of GG, but all GG games including Xrd look like shit. Xrd Sol Badguy is trying to look like Ryu and the characters look like cheap flash animation on newgrounds.

Blazblue always has been the best Arcsys game in terms of graphics. The sprites are more detailed and have more fluid animations.

Persona 4 Arena games look just as good as Blazblue except for the character designs.

UNIB just has the most boring generic characters, and the sprites look so bad. Not as bad as Dengenki Bunko Climax but the sprites are so bland. The animations are so boring, it's just bad, man. Just trust me, it's bad.

The only characters that truly stand out to me as boring looking are Hyde and Linne, the main characters, and Nanase and Byakuya.

At least Hyde Byakuya and Nanase are pretty cool rushdown characters that do cool things. I like Hyde, he's legit as fuck. Nanase is mostly insanely boring looking, but she has a couple really cool specials, and I like her air fireballs a lot. Byakuya is probably my second favorite character to fight as and against. Linne is the second most bland character in the game, and she's a colossal cunt to fight. Everything drops because she's tiny and light, kuuga stuffs everything if you're anywhere in its range, and even if she fucks up her rebeat pressure with a 2A non-whiff reset she's just fine and dandy and gets to CH you. Fuck Linne.

Everybody else is either interesting or cool enough that I give them a pass. Merkava in particular is just insanely cool. Carmine's design is nothing special, but the way he moves is extremely cool. Everybody else I just don't have any problems with visually, they all do really flashy stuff. It's kinda like Melty in that the setting isn't super duper high fantasy like BlazBlue, so most of the character designs just being people in clothes fit with it. The only characters with whoa so crazy designs are the ones that are wholly a part of the supernatural element of the setting. Except Linne, again, because fuck Linne.

Yeah this proves you really don't know anything about the game. It is getting interest from non-anime players just because of the mechanics and how fundamental the game is. I went into the game not expecting much, since I thought the character designs were weak and I didn't care much for Melty. However I was pleasantly surprised by how solid the mechanics were. It's really fun to play, which is the only thing that matters to me in a fighter.

How obscure a fighting game is doesn't really concern me, as I've been active in games people consider "dead" and mainstream things. It's fine if you dislike it, but take your "stop liking what I don't like" mentality outta here until you can criticize the game beyond "i-it looks boring you c-contrarian fags." I thought /jp/ was better than this.

The GRD Gauge alone makes it better than any other recent anime fighting game, it adds a lot of complexity at higher levels of play but at the same time people who are new to the game don't have to focus so intently on it. More than any other game out there it rewards good defense, and is a much more subtle 'comeback mechanic' in a way than stupid things like Rage, Ultra's, x-factor, etc.

I'm not trying to be mean here but honestly it seems like you simply don't know a thing about the game if you are saying that it doesnt have good mechanics, that is basically the one thing the "FGC" has universally agreed on about the game.

>> No.12349860

It's pretty combo heavy, but combos aren't that hard. If you can hit ~2.5-2.7k without vorpal you're fine, and getting there is easy for almost everybody. Some characters get 3k with their most basic babby combos shit.
It's not like BB where routes are really tied down and damage is evenly distributed throughout the combo. Moves hit hard, and combos prorate hard, so you'll get into average damage pretty fast. You just have to put in work to get past it, which is generally just reserved for big punish combos.

>> No.12349910

NA still has ist good in terms of animu fighters. Both coasts have relatively active communities. It's not as great as Japan with hundreds of players you have a four bar connection to online at any time, obviously, but still decent. In Europe it can be a fucking pain to find any ranked match unless you're online at the overall most active times.

well the only way to get the game is to import so obviously the playerbase is going to be really low. This isnt street fighter or even guilty gear but a new series. The fact I can find people at 5 in the morning shows that the game has enough people
