Does anyone know how to start the artifact fusion quest? I'm talking to the star chick but there's no way to increase her affection. Also how do you get gain attribute scrolls? I've never seen one.

So tell me, for people using pets, how many/who do you have active right now? For example, I currently have:

>Exile
God Pet that's been with me the longest, and so has enough AP to keep up with later allies. Also has crystal spear, and I'm looking for a god heart for her. Carries pretty much all of the static artifacts that boost magic (staff of insanity, Mag-Abyss, etc)
>Defender
A tank, although how much she tanks isn't probably much. At the very least, she can revive people via lay on hands, and using the Holy Lance procs a few healing rains here and there
>Kali
Just plain wrecks anything melee. Don't have a high gene engineer for adding slots, but I'm aiming for it.
>Seraph
Wanted to use a Black Angel to wield the Wind Bow, but upgrading is just too good.
>Bells
Have a Xeren Unit (gunner) and a Bell of Termination (melee) for tough enemies. Don't use the latter much, and the former always seems to get creamed in high-leveled dungeons.

I wanted to use my Black Cat for tonfa usage, but she just seems really squishy compared to the other two god pets, no matter what I try to help her.

On my loli thief, I only have a valkyrie and my cute fairy.

My valkyrie is my general tank/killer/she could probably do well even without me. She has the charm and barrier traits. Also, she's now the fastest in my team, so she can tank very well. She also knows provoke (map). She has about 500-600 PV and I stock defender potions for her. She has very good resistances to all elements. As such, she never dies.

As a general hanger-on, there's me, and more importantly, my cute fairy. Spellcaster and ranged nuke. Literally, because she's armed with the Rail Gun. I can't let her be faster than my valkyrie or she'll drag aggro towards her. I couldn't get her DV very high so she normally dies quick. She can usually tank 1 heavy hit, which is my cue to whisk her off the battlefield until I can take care of what's killing her (usual suspects are dark koalas and lower-god monsters). She also knows the healing set, which is alright.

On my new loli gunner (sniper), I have a whopping 4 companions.

2 tanks: a valkyrie and an android (which also doubles as a gunner). Still low level so nothing impressive to behold.

2 gunners: a young lady vampire (greater potion throw for very effective debuff), and an older sister (nothing special, but she's cute and has a long-range AI. That's why.)

Does cooking corpses make their bonus better? I got the fire dragon's one fot example. Also what are good spells? My lv59 magic dart is starting to be meh

>> No.12310341

>>12310224
Cooking does make food better. Keep using magic dart, but get Crystal spear and start training it since the damage scales better plus it's a line spell.

>> No.12310350

>>12310224
I think better cooking increases stat/attribute bonuses for food that is fixed to always give you something, like troll meat developing your healing. But for resistances it merely increases the chance that you will get a resistance, as you don't always get one every time you eat a corpse that gives them. And if you do get a resistance bonus, I think the bonus is fixed. Like if you get the message that you got a bonus, you will always get the same amount regardless of how the corpse was cooked.
I think the PC gets 50, pets get 100.

I just savescum for pet resistances with corpses though. Because raising pet resistances are a bitch and you need to make them less squishy.

HOWEVER, boss corpses are fixed to always give resistance bonuses, regardless of how it was cooked. Unless your innate resistance is maxed at Normal, then nothing will happen.

And I still use magic dart in higher levels just because I trained it so much (lvl121) and I just tend to prefer one target attacks. Crystal Spear or whatever is better, but I still usually use the dart.
My most used spells are:
Magic Dart
Raging Roar
Teleport
Identify
Return
Regenerate
Cure of Eris/Jua and the other healing spells occasionally
Holy Light (Because it removes hexes from pets too)
Healing Touch
Healing Rain
Nightmare
Elemental Scar
Slow
Mist of Frailness
Mist of Silence
Feather
Speed
Hero
Dominate

I don't use offensive magic much though. I focus on support and debuffing and just let my pets take care of the rest. Debuffing is quite important later on and a lot of my pets have hex invokes on their weapons. Slow, Mist of Frailness, and Nightmare/Elemental Scar (depends on what elements you typically use) are great and I have them hotkeyed in a row.
Regenerate is good in between fighting or when you are overweight.
And I don't use Hero too much or buff because two of my pets know Cheer as do I.

Cooking can make food better or worse, depending on the result. Stuff like charred meat or grotesque meat is worse than eating the meat raw, croquette and steak are a lot better. If you don't have decent cooking yet, or a bad cooking tool, you might want to eat stat/resistance gain corpses raw.

If you don't mind having to debuff first, nightmare followed by chaos eye is a very strong combination which does damage, prevents regeneration if the enemy isn't poison immune and generally stops monsters in their tracks through confusion, blind and paralysis. The downside is you're going to have to level nightmare to keep up with monster resistances. I'd recommend nightmare+chaos eye if you also use guns or melee, since you can cast chaos eye until the monster is confused/paralyzed then safely attack it. If you are pure caster, you might find bosses difficult (but not impossible) to hit with Nightmare, so you'd benefit more from Crystal Spear which they won't have as much resistance to.

Magic is a neutral element that does not impact other elements. It's just that most monsters don't have resistance to Magic Dart, your source for magic element early on, or Crystal Spear, later on. In Elona+, you will find monsters with magic element resist.

And I would say for melee and shooter types to train magic. Debuffs become essential for melee and shooter types, later on, and not training magic for late game is suicide/purposefully gimping yourself.

Twohand just checks "Are they using only one weapon?", and the bonus does not change based on how many hands you have. It's best for people with one hand, worst for people with many.
The reason I suggest claymore is that it's a powerful melee class, and it focuses on light armor which is what you WILL be wearing at first due to limited slots.
As you start getting more hands, you will need to switch to dualwield to make maximum usage of all your hands. At first, your third/fourth/ect attacks will have near zero hit chance, but they'll slowly work their way up in accuracy.

I'd like to see the math there.

have you taken into account that as you level it up, it takes less stock per cast? what Potential cutoff are you using?

On speed: I've thought about this a bit. With maxxed out spellpower bonus (that is, 3x + Medium Armor special ability buff) your spirit's level is roughly 3.15x your spell level. Nautical Spirits (being Predators and having a speed bonus) start at 95 Speed and gain 1.9 Speed per level. so a Nautical Spirit with 2000 speed:

(2000-95)/1.9+1 = Lvl 1004 (rounding up).

1004/3.2 = spell-level 319 (rounding up).

A bit of a grind, but still attainable.

There are other benefits:

Pudding Spirits have a high chance of carrying sox.

You can Dominate spirits and sell them to the blackmarket (maxxes out at 33333 gold).

Now that you can't get out-of-level pets any other way, Spirits provide the only way to get a good shopkeeper. Or band members for Ensemble.

You can even use the spell as it's designed - as high-level expendable pets.

Something tells me it'll probably get nerfed soon.

5k just assumes that it will cost 50 scrolls per level, which is likely an understatement because my other spells take over 100 stock per level. Each spell level also requires more exp than the next, and you need to sleep for your spell level to go back up. Getting to 320 spell level takes forever especially once you factor potentials in. Furthermore, your pet needs high str in order to carry you at that speed, so you need to use a war spirit. That said, it is the only real way to get high level pets, though they aren't that good.

>> No.12351801

>>12351755
war spirit IS nautical spirit. different translations.

each scroll gives two spells per level. the chances of getting each spell is uneven and may be Luck based (otherwise I'd be swimming in Wishes). My experience is that I get ~600 stock per 50 scrolls.

How fast you level up the spell is Learning based. Levelling up happens with just a few castings at first, (although taking more stock) and slows down to a constant rate of 30~40 castings per level (haven't fully investigated this bit). This is with a Potential capped at 150.

I'm at lvl 130 or so, and a casting takes about 2-3 stock. I'd say it costs about 100 stock for a level-up, and I imagine the number will get lower when it starts costing just a single stock.

Spirits easily outclass all other (non-levelled) pets once they hit lvl 200 or so. If you play your cards right they fill an important niche until you get to South Tyris, level up, and use an astral light pen on the Android Rider. After that it's a long grind until it surpasses 1240 speed.

If you have money to burn and the herbed food to constantly give them it's not really any worse than training your PC.

Getting them to a level where they're not getting raped by dangerous mobs is another story though to which I just advise not getting all that serious about having...Say, your little girl from the beginning of the game capable of tangoing with a Spaghetti Monster. It can take up a bunch of time and impede progress

what is the ultimate weapon?

I crafted a Living Weapon Hand Grenade with three +Magic Damage Tears, 8 levels of +Magic Damage, 1 level of Massive Damage vs Gods. I used Greater Change Material scrolls to make it Ether, used a shitton of Flying Scrolls to make it weigh 500+ s. (since every added +10 gives +1 damage). Of course I enchanted it to +10 and blessed it.

It deals over 100k damage vs inner gods when wielded by my lvl 1400 minotaur as a close combat weapon.

Alas, it's still not as good as the Inner God weapons, which are ~330K using the same pet.
