Besides, a single map is very unlikely to take more than 50k resources (that's more than fucking 5-5 and you'd have to be retarded to think that a map would demand anything more, especially if gauge recovery comes back) and you can grind 70k-80k within the event period. If the event has three top tier maps (also unlikely), you can enter with 50k resources and still complete it.

Meanwhile staying under the resource cap until event announcement gives you a free Maruyu attempt every other day.

The british navy had a long offensive tradition since the sail age even on disatvantage so putting so much or all the turrets on the front was approaching the enemy so the gunnery control could become more acurate while still holding the gun advantage.

Hey, no need have to explain, I know all about Horatio Nelson's action at Cape St. Vincent which was a major inspiration for both the design and name of the class bearing his name.

My point is that even in contemporary times placing all turrets forward was a significant departure from the more balanced turret plans of its time, namely splitting the turrets fore and aft. The Nelson's design hearkened to the pre-Dreadnought period where the real design craziness abounds and even in the Nelson's time it had its own problems, namely the Nelsons could not fire all three turrets simultaneously for fear of tearing itself apart at the rivets. With the KGV class we see a return to a more typical turret layout with 2 fore 1 aft, although still a departure from the even gun layouts of its contemporaries (4-2-4 compared to say 2-2-2-2 on HMS Vanguard, 3-3-3 on Yamato, etc)

At 5-2, I can go A-B-C-D or A-B-G(-E)-D.

For air supremacy, node A needs 0, node B needs 72, node C needs 84 and node D needs 0.

Other way around for me, I prefer Kancolle over VC even though I play both.
Getting good cards without dumping a large amount of cash or Yukikaze-tier luck is probably hopeless and/or would require you to play like every day all day while in kancolle you can just take it easy and get a great fleet going without spending insane amounts of time or money on it.

Only thing I hate about this game is LSC, fuck LSC.
Its the worst thing ever and I hope the guy that made it sinks in midway.

Regarding CLTs, you can only ask them to do one thing at a time. Either tell them to kill the BBs/CVs or kill the subs. You can't get them to do both at the same time; it'll fail spectacularly. It's a reason why bringing CLTs to clear 5-3 isn't worth it.

Don't worry so much about J, it's not as bad as you think. I think I was only forced to retreat at J less than 10 times, even with that gold BB. At most, it occasionally sends a CL/CVL/BB to orange.

Try this, it's helped me grind 3 Kai 2s so far:

Flagship: DD/CL with ASW
1 BB: 2 46cm cannons, 1 seaplane and a sanshiki
2 CV(L)s*: Mixture of blue/red, green if you're paranoid, 1 Saiun.
2 CLs: ASW (I equip one with two 20.3 cannons just to be safe if I get directed to J)

It will work, but from my experience following setup was optimal:
DD (ASW gear), BBV, 2x CL (ASW gear), CVL, wildcard.
Node J is relatively rare compared to SW route and if you hit it, it's still RNG festival. If you happen to fail at it, just bucket the victim and try again.

If you want to feel safer anyway, you can bring Kiso or/and use CV instead of CVL. Experiment with the setup and try to find the one you're most comfortable with.

I've been using this fleet comp for all my 4-3 grinding, F5'ing every J node since I'm paranoid. CVL has 3 Ryuusei Kai and Sauin, that's usually enough to kill non-sub enemies ensuring no red T. BBV has 3 guns and a radar, to mop up anything that might have remained. Any seaplanes will allow it to attack subs, defeating the purpose of mop up. This leaves me with 4 slots. 2 CL 1DD is the most optimal set up, any more destroyers will force you to node A killing the purpose. Girl I wanted to level had 2 type 3 sonars and type 3 depth charge, the other two had type 93/94 sonar/depth charge and a turbine. This set up ensures 99,(9)% chance to S rank and ~90% for the girl you want to level to have MVP(CVL might steal it if it gets lucky). You're left with a single slot, you can put anything you want there. I, for example, leveled pretty much all my CAs to high levels this way, they were just sitting there doing nothing.

I joined the game 1 month before the event and started the event under regen cap.

I did E-1 to E-3 the first 2 weeks, combined with leveling my fleet, E-4 on the 3rd week, then E-5 on the extension. E-4 took around 11 straight hours to do, and E-5 took around 5.

The gauge regen made the event way more stressful. Wasted a few damecons out of frustration back then.

The real issue is the fact that the boss hp bar regenerates. Honestly, the E5 wasn't really hard at all, but it was E4 that was the real trouble cause of trolling RNG.

Line aboob all the way. Helps reduce damage on the early nodes and helps kill that stupid troll sub on the last node.

My CL is Melon loaded with ASW though. I've been using her to get the aforementioned sub.

I might try a 2BB 2CA 2DD setup next.

I don't recommend using BBs for 5-3 because from personal experience as well as other people's ancedotes, it's not worth it. Do you use boss support?

Make Bep as one of the DDs and have her carry 1 depth charge 2 sonars. Putting her as flagship is optional. The other DD carries cut-in/double attack and 1 sonar. Usually that's enough to kill the flagship sub in line aboob.

For the other 4 ships, CA, CL, DD, CLT are all possible choices (CLT is for high night battle damage; they can oneshot the pesky hime for you). If you use CL/DD/CLT last slot you can put a sonar in the last slot.

Probably with the aritllery spotting update people started to favor CAVs over CLTs due to the new mecanics and because they could endure more.

I stopped used them way before that, they were too frail and they used to get crit to red a lot on pre-boss nodes, so I started to favor CAVs and night battles since then.

I send them out until they go to orange/red or if they're close to there (like 29/55 close).

I only bucket them if they go to orange or red, and even then only some of the higher level ones. Rotating CAs allows me to keep training them while doing the world 3 weekly at the same time; by the time I'm done I have a bunch of damaged CAs, which I slowly repair over the next few days. Then rinse and repeat.

Of course, you can keep bucketing a particular CA you put as flagship and want to express grind, but I recommend you do so only when she goes to red.

Oh, and while I did say 3 CA 1 BB 2 CV, you can actually replace one of the CAs with anything else (CL, CVL, DD) and then put 2 CA 1 BB 2 CV. For example, while I was using Sendai she grabbed MVP 3 times when she started the battle with orange HP.
