1221212 No.1221212 [Reply] [Original]

In my many hours of insomnia, I have decided to transcribe Touhou songs into orchestral pieces. Wish this music major luck.

>> No.1221213

By ear?

>>1221213

Yes by ear. I have Mukou's theme mostly done. I just need to add in timpani to make it more epic sounding and maybe a cadenza so it doesn't end up sounding like a pure transcription. Oh yeah, would it be better if I just made the file as a giant .pdf or would /jp/ prefer a separate pdf for each instrument?

>>1221220
Shit we should record some of our pieces online then get someone to compile them together.

Seperate pdfs are easier to read and play, so...

>> No.1221232

>>1221220
Yeah, just make a .zip file with a folder containing each instrument's .pdf

Why didn't you just refer to the MIDIs?

What, do something like nicodou?

>> No.1222836

Good luck, OP. If I could, I would. Alas, I'm severely lacking in musical talent.

>> No.1222845

music major? what school do you go to?

>> No.1222846

Good luck.

I remember when I was 14 years old and transcribed my first piece of music. I believe it was the dragon battle theme from Breath of Fire 3. I couldn't sleep for days afterwards; I listened to the song so much that it constantly replayed in my head.

I guess your insomnia is going to be worse now?

I know that feeling. I like Touhou music for being non-sticky.

If you don't use Sibelius already, there are a few torrents up for it. I think it allows you to save in PDF format. If you do use Sibelius, save a .sib file and rapidshit it or something, if not a PDF is fine too.

San Francisco Music conservatory.

Just came back after 3 hours of sleep and I'm done adding in the timpani for Mukou's theme. Added a optional place where a cadenza for flute can be played near the end and about 5 bars in to finishing a violin solo.

Sounds good. Throw some East West orchestra synths on there, and make it a song.

>> No.1223156

But are you bad enough dude to get an orchestra and actually record it?

>> No.1223179

>>1223156
Why? Anonymous will play it.

>> No.1223193

>>1223156

OP can just let any anon get the pdfs and anons will take an instrument and record. Then we'll piece it together into a song.

You, sir, are an inspiration to us all.

I'm lacking in musical talent, myself, but I happen to have a lot of friends who would probably think this is the coolest idea ever, all of whom play in a professional orchestra. I'm getting all over this shit the second those .pdfs hit the net.

I already play Toehoe songs on guitar. I don't think a heavily distorted guitar is part of an orchestra, but maybe I can join the strings if I play it clean.
