I managed to quite a lot of progress on the story by completely working form the ground up again.

I always seem real pixel artists and always feel so embarassed and ashamed of the way these are made. Older games used to paint their backgrounds and convert them too so I hope that if it is good enough for them then it will be acceptable for mine.

The standard process of practice + learn more anatomy/construction etc. Having works of an artists you like to refer to as a standard set also works pretty well for me. Just take time, sir down and try to analyse what they are doing right and you're not + make notes of it.
One thing I also notice what a lot of drawers dont do is try to paint or color things. imo both should be practiced. Painting will force you to consider forms and surfaces wraping in 3D as well as how to show it, which aids drawing a lot. That said, I do think its possible to be able to draw well before you can paint, but that would raise your expectations and standard really high above your painting ability. This makes it quite hard if you want to go back and learn to paint since you'll be stuck feeling really bad about your paintings/ not have any fun for a much longer time.

Dude. Don't worry too much about "real" pixel art. What goes and what doesn't is always a hot topic but it only really makes sense for a site like pixeljoint to have guidelines what can be uploaded and what not. Your pieces doesn't fit the criteria of most sites I know but that isn't a problem as long as you don't claim it to be 100% true pixel art, imo. However you should edit the indexed colors, the gradient on the walls is way smoother than the other gradients, most notable the door.

Try keeping a journal to write down your ideas for things to draw. I love having a journal, it helps me remember and keeps me together. It's good for personal reflection too.

Drawing from thought or memory is extremely difficult at first, so don't give up.

Today I practiced drawing the human form with "The Structure of Man" videos. I'd heavily recommend them, especially for beginners. The teacher/narrator is rather calming too.

She's overall pretty cute, and you have some nice lineart, though I can pick out some construction problems.
Biggest issue I can see is that the angles of her face and body don't correspond
(face seems like it's turned to the left slightly because of the nose and midline while the body is in an upfront shot). This can be fixed if you keep a good midline in the sketch to make sure everything align. I took a bit of liberty making her pose slightly more dynamic too, hope you don't mind that. Face-wise, just use the established proportion rules and deform it slightly to fit the round anime/manga face (ref is from Micheal Hampton, if you want to look into it further).
Sorry if I happen to sound like an d/ic/k, but that was how I learnt things orz.

This is probably one of the most autistic 2hu artists. He is drawing these touhou yonkoma for over 4 years pretty much on a daily basis and is also doing some livestreams on nico. He's now up to 1330 pages.

Nope. I have a few and I find them to be way more pricey than they have any right to be.

Your best chances are to observe your world. Try to see objects as their basic shapes and see through the form. The best way to start that would be to do one point perspective drawings of rectangles. It's boring and dry but it's training you need to know and understand.
