So i've almost translated pic related, but i'm not sure if i got this sentence right:

"that is some kind of a longstanding belief

Should i get rid of "some kind" stuff?
Is the sentence structure even correct?

I'm still a beginner at Japanese and may not help much but I will try to help, the translated sentence appears to be a bit too sophisticated. For wider audience it may be good to simplify it a bit. That is my two cents, since I don't know the context I can't really help to make it more fitting.
