This picture of Illya is a representation of Chinese nationalism. Illya is eating because she is hungry. This represents the hunger for expansion and glory that Chinese nationalism calls for. The fact that Illya is only nibbling on the anpan represents the small steps China can take towards it's realization of nationalist objectives. Because the era of military imperialism is long past, China must find other ways to expand it's empire.
