Is this a original project, or like the Nazi card game one where they're just translating?

I know that Touhou-fans already made a card game and there's a huge page on danbooru about it. Are they just going to translate that and sell it in the US?

Are they even allowed to?

From the FAQ:

We do not have official permission from ZUN, the creator of Touhou Project, for this Kickstarter. This is why this game will NOT be available at your local distributors, retailers, or online stores. We are trying our best to abide to his doujinshi (fan-creation) publishing policies. If we do not receive permission from ZUN before the end of this project on May 26, please be prepared that we may cancel this Kickstarter project.

I fucking love card games, I played Magic for ten years before I finally got sick of that shit.

I was wondering why it was so fucking expensive but then I guess if you want to do a small project it costs like fifty cents to print a nice card so a "starter pack" of 120 cards would be around fifty bucks.

My inner elitist hopes ZUN shits on it, though.

>2hu card game
commercialism is really disgusting sometimes, these managers want to suck out the money from the market that ZUN and the fanbase created by making a generic card game and put some 2hus in them
they don't even got proper investors for this trash and want free money (minus taxes and fees) by making use of the retardation of the people aka. the crowd-funding concept
i would probably do to the same thing as the managers, because this shit brings in several thousands of dollars without even trying
what if ZUN gets informed about this? if he was smart got his 2hu patented he can sue the moneys back from them

Holy shit, that horrible vague trailer.
Those people obviously have a tentative grasp of Touhou at best. If the announcer didn't drop the name Touhou that one time, this could be a description of literally any Generic Card Game™. They propably found themselves a niche they though they can make a buck on and all they had to do is to paste a few of the million fanarts on the characters on a template card game system and call it a day.

Sorry, but I'm staying with Rumbling Spell Orchestra. At least Hinafuda knows Touhou canon (and some fanon too) inside-out and made effort to make the game feel Touhou-ish (Hit and Evasion rates, Unfocused and Focused movement values to boost evasion against some spell cards further, deathbomb-ish Border Value, penetration of defense on laser cards, etc), not to mention RSO is pretty damn complex and well-balanced too.

You might get a few donations. It'd be better if you're an American to start up a SuperPAC and use direct mail to scare seniors into donating money to you to fight the Obama menace. Then you spend 80% of those donations to buy advertising services from a marketing company (that you own). The other 20% should be donated to useless libertarian candidates running for school supervisor to make sure that you don't get arrested.

SJWs are harder to scam simply because they don't got too many dollars to begin with. Plus it's harder to solicit since they communicate mainly via the net than through mail.

>Using Kickstarter to make money using Touhou? No. Make the game first, let people judge if your game is worth it, and THEN make a Kickstarter.
The shareware software model should be adopted once again.

It was less Kickstarter and more that Western developers don't really have the same freedom to make touhou games.

I didn't really have a problem with it because let's be honest: There's far worse touhou shit out there than a card game with some decent artwork behind it. And the logistics in western society for making something like that is far different without any big centralized areas. The closest equivalent would probably be Steam, but most Japanese developers are still afraid of it.

How so?

The problem was EXACTLY the fact that it was funded with a crowdfunding system like Kickstarter. Had they done this without Kickstarter (like a good doujin project should), there shouldn't have been any problems.

1. Make clone of popular game
2. Vomit 2hus and maybe even some quality ZUN dialogue onto it
3. Print covers, burn copies, put together, or pay someone to do it for you
4. Take to convention with decently sized fandom
5. ???
6. PROFIT
